✗ A new type of heavy plough was introduced, since it was heavier it made deeper furrows in the soil. ✗ Horseshoes and a new type of collar were invented and horses begun to be used to pull ploughs instead of oxen. Horses plough faster and could worked for longer periods of time so more land could be cultivated.
