Conditions of Sale

1. The stock will be sold in the order in which they appear in the catalogue and the highest bidder on each lot on the fall of the hammer will be declared the purchaser. If any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders then the lot in dispute will be put up again and resold, or the purchaser may be declared by the auctioneers.

2. The pedigree and description of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as a warranty and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description.

3. All animals are at the risk of vendor before sale and the purchaser after the sale. The auctioneer accepts no responsibility for damage or injury caused to the animal in the sales yard or in its precinct thereof.

4. The service dates, while believed to be correct, cannot however be guaranteed.

5. All lots will be sold in euro. Purchaser will be charged a fee of 5% of sale price.

6. Purchasers shall, if and when required, give their names and address to the auctioneers and shall if required, pay to the auctioneers the purchase money for each lot at the fall of the hammer, or so soon thereafter as the auctioneers may require.

7. Purchaser paying by cheque must be prepared, if required, to produce banker’s reference.

8. No lots shall be removed from the sale premises until a written delivery order has been given by or on behalf of the auctioneers.

9. Each lot shall, at the purchasers expense, be removed from the sale premises within a reasonable time after the close of the day’s sale.

We have decided to disperse our Ballyhibben texel flock due to farming and work commitments. We really admire good sheep and breeders, regardless of what breed and as a result, built a flock based on some of the best bloodlines in the breed. Health Status

The flock is scrapie monitored, negligible status 7+ years. All the ewes are on Heptavac P plus program and will need their annual booster. Vaccinated with Enzovax and Toxovax. If there is any sheep purchased for export, they can return to Ballyhibben for their quarantine period.

Ballyhibben Dragons Den Sired by Sportsmans A Star. Retained from the 2020 crop of lambs. His dam is the much admired Kingspark ewe. 6 sons sold to pedigree flocks on the same year.

Sportsmans Dare Devil Sold for £48,000gns. His son sired Rhaeadr First Choice sold at Lanark this year for £160,000gns.

Sire: Milnbank Destroyer Dam: GAF1902429 DOB: 28/03/2021 Triplet Spotted this ram in early July last year at Alastair Gaults. After a struggle we managed to get a private purchase and one we are not sorry for. His sire is full brother to Highland show champion 2021. Dam is a full sister to Arthur O’Keefes All Ireland champion 2021, Forkins Baz sold for £5,000gns and maternal brother to good breeding Forkins Anfield.

TEXELS

The flock was established in 2006 with the purchase of females from the Foundry and Chessy flocks. It has always been our aim to produce Texel's with size, power and correctness for the commercial and pedigree sheep breeders. The purchase of females from the Springwell, Tullagh, Springhill, Milestonehill and Stainton flocks have had a massive impact on our flock, especially the Springwell ewe. She has won champion Tullamore Show 2016 and 2017 and has numerous interbreeds and championship show titles to her name. Also the purchase of stock rams Hartside Assassain, Stainton Coca Cola and Harestone Commander have left us with some super females and it is mainly their daughters that sell at this sale. Hartside Assassain gimmers made €2200 and €1600 at Blessington 2020. Harestone Commander has bred exceptionally breeding gimmers to €6500 and €1500 at Blessington this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Blessington All Star sale for inviting us to be part of this fantastic sale. KILCURLEY: A massive lamb we retained this year. His mother bred 10K Kilcurley Ed last year and we just couldn’t part with this boy. Hasn’t stopped growing and we can’t wait to see what he breeds!

RYAN TEXELS

The Ryan family started breeding Texels in 1987 with the Graigues Flock and in the next two years the Rotsee and Lawn Flocks were established. The Ryan trio believe in connecting with their customers, and breeding what the customer wants, active shearlin gs with good shape ,correctness and performance figures. The 3 Ryan Flocks, Graigues, Rotsee and Lawn have been performance recording initially in the LMI Scheme and currently with Sheep Ireland, Flor says " that the demand for these figures is growing yea r on year". The Ryans take great pride in hearing how their stock progress for other farmers both commercial and pedigree. One of the biggest highlights of Ryan Texels performing well for other flocks was when the top price ewe FRI 1602551 sold for (€4,200) at the Irish Premier Sale in 2017, bought by the renowned Hexel flock in the UK. Her first son, " Hexel Born to be Wild" (who now has over 300 sons registered in the UK Flockbook) he was sold in 2018 at Lanark for £8,000stg in a 3 way split with Usk Vale , Haddo and Hexel retaining a third. The first 5 sons sold by Hexel Born to be Wild in 2019 from the Usk Vale flock averaged 20,000gns with a top of 35,000gns.The trend continued in 2020 with another 2 of her son’s selling for 65,000gns and 14,000gns.In 2022 her granddaughters have stepped up to the mantle and have produced many eye catching stock at Lanark and Carlisle Texel Sales. Flor said that it is great when you know your breeding can stand up at home and abroad. He notes that his flock is supported by a strong commercial Shearling ram trade, and there is no better way to know when your stock are preforming is when you see a fa rmer who bought a ram from you coming back to your pen or to the farm as a repeat customer . At the Premier Sale annually our Shearling pens are always among the top averages. Over the past years Ryan Texels were some of the highest priced shearlings at th e Sheep Ireland Lamb Plus Sale. Over the years we have used many great sires including Cush Comanche, Dutch Halley's Comet, Garrolagh Iggy Pop and Baileys One and Only. In recent years 4 more exceptional sires have earned their place on this list Hillcrest Yeovil, Foundry Achilles, Derrylahan Big Balls and Kilclammon Branston.

HEALTH STATUS

All our ewes are in the Enzovax,Toxovax and Heptavac P vaccination programme.Our flocks are also in the Scrapie Monitoring Scheme and all our ewes are eligible for expor t on sale day. Our ewes were shorn on June 6th, Summer dipped on July 25th, received Fluke & Worm drench on November 18th and bolused with Allsure boluses on Dec 1st.

Echo was purchased at the Ballymena Premier Sale in 2021 for his tight woo l, length, confirmation and true Texel characteristics. There are 5 ewes in the sale in lamb to Echo.

A retained son of the New Zealand sire Foras Y So Because out of one of our best breeding lines. Eban had eye catching performance figures with 5 stars across all traits, a total of 30 stars. There is 3 ewes in the sale in lamb to Eban.

The Annakisha Flock was established in 2001. The purchase of ewes from top flocks in Ireland and the UK have been responsible for our major successes over the years. Most notably Supreme and Interbreed Champion at the All Ireland 2019. Female Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion All Ireland Finn Valley 2022. Also Reserve Interbreed Champion 2022.We also had 1st in the junior ewe lamb, 2nd in the senior ewe lamb and 2nd in the open ram lamb in Finn Valley. A massive shearling purchased for his scale and carcase . Dam is a very successful Conniston show ewe winning the Derbyshire club show for the last two years.

DONNELLY FLOCK

The Donnelly Flock was established with the purchase of ewes from Tysaxon and Chessy flocks. Select ewes have been added to the flock sin ce from the Ballybrooney, Bailey & Derrylahan flocks and from the Forkins & Cherryvale flocks Northern Ireland. The flock has improved steadily with the help of embryo work in recent years, 2016 was a highlight winning 1st & 2nd Prize Senior Ewe Lambs & 1 st Prize Junior Ewe Lamb at the All Irelands in Dundalk, with the 1 st Prize Senior Ewe Lamb going on to be Reserve Overall Champion. In 2017 our three entries for the All Irelands all went on to win their respective classes, with one claiming All Ireland Fe male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion. In 2018 our two entries stood 1 st and 4th in the Senior ewe lamb class making it three years in a row to win this class. In 2019 our three entries for the All Irelands achieved two 1 st Prizes in the Junior Ram Lamb & Ewe Lamb Classes, with the ram lamb going onto be Reserve Overall Male Champion. Our third entry stood 3 rd in a strong Senior Ewe Lamb Class. In the sales ring, 2017 was the highlight winning Reserve Blessington Champion with Donnelly Alonso selling for €4800. In 2018 ram lambs from the flock sold to 1800, with 2019 rams selling for €1800, €2000 & €2100 in Blessington, with the Carrick Second Main Sale Champion selling for €2000 also in 2019.

Females have sold successfully over the years selling to €2000 & €2100 in 2016, €2400 in 2017, €1800 in 2019, 2020 was a terrific sale with eleven shearlings averaging €1960, selling to €1800 X 3, €2400, €3000 & a top of €5200. Silverhill Doughlas: A €6000 Blessington 2020 buy, sired by the £130,000gns Sportsmans A Star, his dam is ET sister to the €15,000 Silverhill Bushtucker with another ET sister selling for €3000.

Sons have sold to €1000 with daughters selling to €2000 at Blessington Premier 2022.

Clewbay Efficent: Purchased for €3,000 Blessington 2021, breeding very saleable sheep with sons from his first crop of lambs selling for €900, €1000, €1080 and €1100 in 2022.

Loosebeare Chief: Has had an exceptional year in 2022, winning 1 st prize Aged Ram All Irelands and progeny selling exceptionally well for his owners, selling to a top of €5500. Chief is sheep with excellent size, length and outstanding performance figures.

FRENCHBROOK FLOCK

We at Frenchbrook Texels are delighted and very thankful to have been invited to attend this years Texel Blessington All Stars In lamb sale. Frenchbrook Texels was established in 2020 with the purchase of foundation females from Derrylahan, Oberstown, Clew Bay, Enniscrone, Silverhill & Thornville Flocks. We also added more females from Lakeview, Knap & Hilltop last year. Although we are relatively new to the Texel Breed we have achieved some success. Our ewe lamb entry for Blessington this year was sold for €1700. She was sired b y Alderview Explosive who is our main service sire for this sale. We also got 2 nd place with her ET sister this year at the All Irelands in Donegal in the Novice Ewe Lamb class. Last year our ewe lamb got 1st place in the Virtual All Ireland Ewe Lamb class . Her full sister is in this sale. We also won the North Connacht Texel Aged ewe class this year and her daughter is in this sale.
