When you fashion a graven image they become futile and these “precious� things are of no profit; even those that adopt them fail to see or know, so they will be put to shame. Have you fashioned a god or built an idol to no profit? Behold all your companions will be put to shame, for the craftsmen of these futile plans are of mere men. Let them all assemble themselves, let them stand up, let them tremble; let them together be put to shame. For when you try to shape your plans using your own strength and have needs and your strength fails; and you refuse to drink My living water, you will become weary. For when you make plans to provide for yourself and your household, and make these plans in the form of a man, like the beauty of man, so that you can sit secure in your house, these will become the things that I your Lord will burn up with my fire of baptism. For these things I will burn, in order that you do not make them as a god and worship it and fall down before it. Stephen, there are times that you offer to Me half of what I give you and the other half you make into a graven image so that your flesh will be deceptively satisfied. For these graven images will not deliver you. If you do this thing, you will feed on the ashes of a deceived heart and once again turn away from Me. Is there not a lie in your right hand? Oh boy, feed on the ashes of a deceived heart – that is flat out ugly! I think this is what Bildad is doing. He is taking some relevant Truths of God and mixing them with worldly fables. The end result is idols of futility. Allow me to summarize the personal lessons I gained from the above entry:
