Vascular & Neurological Assessment CPD Course - Sunday 20th March 2011 This course is designed for practitioners who wish to update and expand their knowledge of treatments. Learning Outcomes: On completion of this one day course you will be able to: Vascular Assessment Appreciate the problems of Diabetes Mellitus upon the vascular system Consider arterial and venous diseased conditions Use a systemic approach and analysis of an impaired vascular system Use a Doppler to calculate ankle/ brachial indexes Identify why a patient has pain i.e. intermittent claudication, Raynaud’s disease and impairment of blood supply. Identify why a referral to a GP is necessary Understand the total vascular system and the effects of contra indications Neurological Assessment Make meaningful assessment of neurological impairment Identify some deficiency in nerve response Use a Neurothesiometer and Neuropen to measure nerve response Test performance of reflexes Test nerve response from any part of the lower leg Use vibratory instruments to measure nerve response Better understanding of the central nervous system
