Determined is a dynamic gospel duo featuring powerhouse vocalist Napoleon Gilbert Sr. of Mansfield, La. and soul-stirring vocalist Bruce Osby of Pleasant Hill, La. via Houston, Texas. Check out their debut single "Going to Church" from the upcoming album Determined. Purchase "Going to Church," available now on iTunes, CD BABY and other digital outlets or listen to it now at: http://determined.hearnow.com. Napoleon and I started singing together back in 1988 with a quartet that I am the founder of named "The Concert Supremes". We song and recorded together for over 10 years in Central Louisiana before I moved to Seattle, WA in 1997. Our goal has always been to sing GOD's praises all over the world and we did extensive traveling with the Concert Supremes all over Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, Chicago, Arkansas, Vegas, California. We recorded over 10 albums but life caused us to go our separate ways until just recently I relocated to Houston, Texas and reunited with my longtime friend and we decided we still wanted to work together so we started recording some songs I wrote two of which we have released "Going to Church" and "Lord of Host". We are not new to the industry we just haven't gone out with just the two of us until now. Our first song Going to church has really gotten a lot of attention and the video is over 120K in just 3 months. We are looking for as much exposure as we can get especially radio playing time because once someone hears our song it stays with you the message is relevant and the music is dynamic. I am an ordained minister and Napoleon is an ordain deacon we love the Lord and we are excited to get our message to the masses
In Ya Faith Gospel Magazine Christmas Town, USA McAdenville, North Carolina By Wanda Barber Photography by Carlton Barber
There is a quiet little town called McAdenville, which rests along the South Fork River in Gaston County N.C. This small town comes alive in lights and spirit each year as Christmas comes around. In December this sleepy little town is transformed into “Christmas Town, USA.” The tradition started in 1956; The reaction to these early efforts was so favorable that each year the number of decorated trees has been increased One of the favorite spots for tourists is the lake which is situated near the center of town. Here are 33 trees, ranging in size from 12 to 40 feet, which ring the lake. The reflection of the lights in the water adds to the beauty of the scene. A fountain, located in the center of the lake, jets water 75 feet into the air. This was my favorite as a child and still is. Lights shining on the fountain go through a sequence of red, green, blue and amber about once every ten seconds. . The town residents play a big part as they decorate their homes in original styles according to their own personal tastes. This gives a special expression of “Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas” from the townspeople to their visitors. A life-size nativity scene and life-size figures of carolers, complete with music, add to the effect. Each year dozens of request for photos and general information comes from in-state and out-of-state newspapers and magazines. Including: * Back in 1997, after finding Christmas Town USA on the internet, ABC's “Good Morning America", broadcast a LIVE report from McAdenville .. YAHOO has even named McAdenville Christmas Town USA in its 10 places in the Nation to visit during the month of December.
In Ya Faith Gospel Magazine Christmas Depression Holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and celebration, but for some people they are anything but. Depression may occur at any time of the year, but the stress and anxiety during the months of November and December may cause even those who are usually content to experience loneliness and a lack of fulfillment. Why Is Depression So Common During the Holidays? There are several reasons why you may develop depression during the holidays: Social Isolation Social isolation is one of the biggest predictors of depression, especially during the holidays. Some people may have a small social circle or a lack opportunities for socialization. People who have feelings of disconnectedness often avoid social interactions at holiday time. Unfortunately, withdrawing often makes the feelings of loneliness and symptoms of depression worse. These individuals may see other people spending time with friends and family, and ask themselves, "Why can't that be me?" or "Why is everyone else so much happier than I am?" One of the best ways to deal with social isolation is to reach out to friends or family for support. You can also try talking to a therapist. They can help you figure out where your feelings come from and develop solutions to overcome them. Grieving During the Holidays Some people may be keenly aware of the loss of a loved one during the holiday season. Here are several ways to stave off the holiday blues that may descend at this time:
Begin a New Tradition Try planning a family outing or vacation, instead of spending the holidays at home. Don't Give In to Holiday Pressures Feel free to leave an event if you aren't comfortable. Be willing to tell others, "I'm not up for this right now." Volunteer Helping others can also be very helpful for you, too. For example, you might try: working at a soup kitchen organizing a gift drive helping your neighbor with a yard or house task Get Back to Nature Going for a walk in the park or the woods helps many people relax and feel better when they are feeling overwhelmed. Major Depressive Disorder with Seasonal Pattern Major depressive disorder with seasonal pattern is a type of recurrent depression that is caused by the seasons changing. Many people with this disorder develop depression symptoms during the fall, and continue to feel sad throughout the winter. Most people stop having symptoms during the spring and summer. This disorder is treated with light therapy, antidepressants, and talk therapy.

They can refer you to a mental health specialist. If your feelings of sadness during the holidays are accompanied by suicidal thoughts, do one of the following immediately:

According to the kept Primary Care Companion to the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, as little as 30 mins of cardiovascular exercise can provide an immediate mood boost similar to the effects of an antidepressant medication. Joining a support group where you talk to people with similar experiences to yours can also help.
In Ya Faith Gospel Magazine 14 Undeniable Warning Signs That Your Relationship Is Abusive
If your partner does ANY of these things, you need to get out and get help!! Sadly, it takes an average of five to seven acts of violence before a woman leaves her abuser. It's easier to avoid an abusive relationship if you're able to detect the early signs. The Women's Center distributed the following list for women seeking domestic violence counseling. A path to a safer, healthier and happier life often starts with a bit of knowledge. If your partner displays the following behaviors, it's possible you're in an abusive relationship: 1. They push for quick involvement. 2. There's constant jealousy. 3. They are controlling. 4. They have very unrealistic expectations. They expect perfection from you and for you to meet their every need. 5. There's isolation. They try to cut you off from family and friends, 6. They blame others for their own mistakes.
10. There's verbal abuse. They constantly criticize you or say cruel things. They degrade curses and call you ugly names. They will use vulnerable points about your past or current life against you. 11. There are rigid gender roles in the relationship. They expect you to serve, obey and remain at home. 12. They have sudden mood swings. He switches from loving to angry in a matter of minutes. 13. They have a past of battering. 14. They threaten violence. They make statements such as, "I'll break your neck," but then dismisses it with "I really didn't mean it." NOTE: Though females are the primary victims in Domestic Violence, it is not always the case; males can also be victims (over 25 percent). Some resources to check into for both male and female victims are: safehorizon.org, ncdva.org, and nomore.org.
7. They make everyone else responsible for their feelings. 8. They are hypersensitive. They are easily insulted and will often rant and rave about injustices that are just part of life. 9. They are cruel to animals and children.

I prayed very hard and asked the Lord if this was me trying to reliving some childhood thing to please take it away from me. You see I used to sing with a group called the Faith Boys from Belmont, NC as a bass singer when I was 14 -18 years old. We sang all over NC and SC in anything from High Schools to on flatbed trucks in parking lots.” And after much prayer one morning he awoke and saw a portion of sheet music in a vision. Written in the place for the words was, “Follow Your Spirit”. At about the same time he realized what he was reading a small voice whispered, “Follow Your Spirit”. After that he felt a strong desire to open his ministry in an assisted living center. To date he has four different facilities they minister in on a regular basis.
