The Totally Terrific Tomato Festival Sunday September 4th 2016 | Family Event The Totally Terrific Tomato Festival will make its home at Killruddery for a fabulous celebration of all things tomato! The festival is dedicated to all kinds of tomatoes – especially heirloom and open-pollinated – and the wondrous diversity they represent. We hope that it will bring together a community of tomato growers, pursuing deliciousness though growing more than just your standard tomato (nice as they are). The highlight of the festival will be a display of as many different shapes, sizes and colours of tomato as possible. Hollywood Fair 2016 The Hollywood Fair Committee is already busy preparing for this, the sixth year of the Fair (from Wed 17th to Sun 21st August). Reaching out to our emigrants overseas, the 2016 Fair promises to be even better than the hugely successful previous ones.

The pre-1950s rural heritage theme of the Fair has proved a real hit with people. Whether it’s nostalgia for the past or something else but country and townspeople alike have been flocking to Hollywood in the last 5 years to be part of the celebration.

The 2013 Fair surpassed all expectations. It began on the Wednesday but the major outdoor events were concentrated at the weekend. The reconstructed Famine

cabins in Farrington’s field had attracted a lot of curiosity and from early on the Saturday visitors began to arrive in the village. From about 5pm they started to congregate in Tutty’s field. Dressed in pre-1950s attire the large attendance were in festive mode as they made their way by pony and trap, vintage vehicles, bikes and shank’s mare to the nearby church for Mass in traditional Latin style at 6 o’clock. After Mass the crowd proceeded to Farrington’s field to witness the re-enactment of a Famine Eviction scene from the 1840s. Well over 2,000 people attended this outdoor spectacle.

The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Run 2016

The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club are back in action for the 2016 season and are delighted to have recruited a considerable amount of new members, however, there will always be room for more.

There will be a Perpetual Trophy for Car of the show, sponsored by The Kennedy Family.

Do you want to sell your vintage car? For an entry fee of €10 display it in a designated area of the field. Want to buy a vintage car?

Come to the show and meet the owners. There will be on field catering, live music, bouncy castle, side Shows and much more on the day.

The Annual Liam Kelly Memorial Garden of

Ireland Vintage Car Run will take place on the weekend of 11th – 13th September. This has become extremely popular within the vintage world and also a major attraction on the Tourism Calendar for Co. Wicklow as it brings many visitors from both home and abroad. The entry fee is €20 and Chill & Grill €30.

The weekend will commence on Friday 9th September with a complimentary welcome reception at The Grove Bar, Delgany at 9.30pm. On Saturday 10th September the run will start from The Glenview Hotel at 10.30am, registration will commence at 9.30am and after the presentations and a rest the evening will finish with a Chill & Grill at the hotel at 8pm, music by: Skin The Goat. A unique Coastal Ultra Marathon Trail Run – 50 km 28th August 2016 / Free Event

50 Kilometre Ultra Marathon trail run consisting of a single loop through the stunning coastal setting of County Wicklow on the East Coast of Ireland, 30 minutes South of Dublin City Centre.

Starting in Wicklow Town the run follows the coast to Greystones then picks up the Bray Cliff Walk Trail before returning to Wicklow Town.

The Festival is organised entirely by dedicated volunteers and the local parishes of Enniskerry. Each year the proceeds of the day are divided between the joint parishes and a national charity organisation.

We have chosen to work with the amazing Lakers for 2016. Lakers is a sport and recreational club for children and adults with an intellectual disability. The club provides a wide range of sporting,

educational and essential support services to members across Leinster. They have been in operation since 1989 and currently have 400 members supported by 130 volunteers and staff.

Bel-Air Equestrian Centre Bel-Air Equestrian Centre is situated in the old court yard of Bel-Air Hotel, 20 metres from the manor house itself.

The old stables are full of character and you can see the evidence of times past.

We are probably best known for our cross-country ride-outs, and specialise in building rider confidence on the crosscountry course. But we also offer scenic ride-outs, hacking and instruction in all disciplines. We cater for experienced adults and teenagers, but you don’t need experience in cross-country jumping. The Murrough Wicklow Town

The Murrough Nestled nicely along the eastern sea shore of Wicklow Town, is a gem of historic, cultural and scenic fortune, known as The Murrough.

Not often do you come across an area which comfortable combines a thriving business hub along with beautiful recreational amenities and walkways.

While originally erected to help in sea rescues, the Monkey Pole is now used by the rowing and sailing clubs, along with fitness enthusiast as the 1 mile marker from the north pier.

The Murrough stretches from the Five Arch Bridge at the mouth of the harbour, and travels north along the eastern seaboard for 15km, as far as south Greystones.

The most enjoyable element of The Murrough has to be the breathtakingly beautiful Wetlands further north along the coast. This area has been classed as a SAC, special area of conservation. At any time of the year, walkers can enjoy stunning spectacles of natural wildlife habitats, nestled teasingly along the saltmarshes and mudflats.

Fishing and birdwatching can be enjoyed at the area known as Broadlough.

Businesses such as D&W Motors, GE Valeting, Remo Kitchens, Babycare, Murrough Motors and The Recycling Centre have all maintained a presence close to the town, while recreational and cultural activities pattern themselves along the coastline for many miles.

Recreation Opened in 2015, the Murrough Pirate Playground provides a scenic adventure space for the little ones to enjoy, while the skate park close by gives teenagers an ideal safe place to practice some death defying skills on two and four wheels.

Run on narrow public roads, the original Spa layout was an amazing 14.9 kilometres long and notoriously dangerous. The lap distance was reduced slightly over the years, with some corners eased, but when the ‘old’ circuit staged its final Grand Prix in 1970 it still measured just over 14 kilometres and remained staggeringly quick.

Spa remains the longest circuit on the calendar. Its mix of long straights and challenging fast corners, coupled with its picturesque setting, means that most drivers still rank it among their favourite tracks.

Murray won his third major and second Wimbledon title earlier this month after finishing runner-up to Djokovic at this year’s Australian and French Opens.

The Scot, also the reigning Olympic gold medalist, defeated Djokovic in the 2012 US Open final to win his first Grand Slam championship.

Conor McGregor has been saying and doing all the right things since he left the octagon, defeated, on March 5th.

In it’s immediate aftermath, ‘The Notorious’ Irishman spoke about his loss to Nate Diaz philosophically, branding it an opportunity for growth, rather than a setback. He had been there before, perhaps not on a comparable stage, but early career defeats to Artemij Sitenkov and Joseph Duffy proved valuable lessons, paving the way for the success story that would follow.

McGregor vowed that things would be no different this time around.

This wasn’t mere theoretical musing or lip-service either. A true subscriber

to the ‘win or learn’ philosophy of his coach John Kavanagh, the still-reigning featherweight champion has altered his normal preparatory approach ahead of the rematch at UFC 202, bringing in training partners capable of emulating elements of the lanky Stockton native’s style and rededicating himself to cardiovascular work. McGregor has indicated that his attitude towards nutrition has also changed and that he plans to come in lighter for the welterweight sequel.

The 28-year-old has identified a whole host of factors that he feels contributed to his demise at UFC 196 and attempted to find a remedy for each one.

Yet, despite all of this, his fellow pros aren’t convinced that he can reverse the result of the first contest.

2015 was a bit of a blur for Gavin James. He lost count of how many gigs he played, couldn’t say how many countries he visited and hasn’t a clue how few days off he got. The highlights, however, he will never forget.
