, Jacking Up Creative is a Hong Kong based interior design consultancy specializing in creating design solutions for both residential and commercial interiors. The company’s award-winning design concept for The Bistro in Hong Kong demanded space planning to be the key element. The high cost per square metre in this highly commercial district means that every customer’s order is crucial. The Bistro therefore had to be capable of maximum capacity without creating a crowded atmosphere. Traditional bistro elements were kept to offer a feeling of dining at home. Yellow lamps and raw, dark wood have created a timeless, relaxing environment that allows customers to
leave rush hours and work schedules behind. At the same time, as modern bistros opt for a more simplistic approach, customers are offered a bright and spacious environment to dine for business and pleasure. Functional fixtures such as the kitchen, bar, cash desk, menu stand and serving cabinet are all vital elements. However, clever placement has hidden them where they are all easy to reach to maintain efficiency yet keep the dining area looking neat. Tables are lined up side-by-side making them suitable for larger groups where they can be joined together easily. As some customers may face inwards, walls have been decorated with mirrors, giving a false depth of space and a better view of the room.
