   specialist architecture and interior design firm that aims to create an environment as a theatre, reflecting a luxury lifestyle. Founded by experienced design director Andrew R Frost, whose work has included projects for three consecutive Olympic games, the company intends its projects to enrich each individual inhabitant’s life. Kem Beach Resort is an accessible 3-star resort at Sun Premier Village in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. Although the developers Sun Group had an initial master plan, this was somewhat disconnected so Darkhorse were brought in to create an overall landscaped resort of thatched villas with links between each zone through continuous corridors leading back to the extensive beach frontage. These landscaped

corridors both applied order to the sequential planning of the site and ensured visual connections back to the sea. Each alignment alternates between ‘movement’ and ‘resort play’ to allow good access to all parts of the site and create key locations for all resort facilities at logical locations. The range of villas and facilities incorporate strong frames and walls built of local stone to withstand the winds and humidity of Phu Quoc. Thatching is overlaid and secured to the in-situ frames as a way of providing the visual cues sought by the clients and owners whilst providing resilience and longerlasting architecture. Villas typically have three to four bedrooms, offering flexibility of accommodation for visitors, and are positioned to take advantage of the extensive plantings.
