Teaching from Pastor Larry: Message from the Word

Isaiah 52:7 – How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring you good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God Reigns!”

Colossians 2:8-9 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. This scripture is a warning from the Lord that listening to man’s opinions and ideas without God’s instruction will deceive you. We are so easily swayed when an idea from someone lines up with what we already desire. We also have man-made traditions that have nothing to do with God, in fact, some religious traditions keep people from God blessings. Others say “That’s the way we’ve always done it.” or “Our church doesn’t believe in that.” We need to find out if our traditions line up with God’s Word. Worldliness has entered into the church and has kept people from being healed, from having a personal walk with God and becoming the spirit-filled person that God desires. I hope the next verse will make it all clearer for you. Colossians 2:10 …and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. This scripture means that we find our identity in Christ, not in man,

not in works, not even in church, but in Jesus alone. He completes us, he gives us peace, he gives us joy, he provides for us, he loves us, he desires us to be blessed and to prosper. The world and man’s ideas do not complete us. Jesus does! Recently, I pulled into the parking lot of the park where my 5 year old granddaughter’s birthday party was taking place. She was sitting on the slide taking off her shoes about to go play on the slide. She looked up and saw me exiting my car. She dropped everything and came running barefoot at full speed and jumped into my waiting arms. She put her head on my shoulder and said “I love you PaPaw.” As, I’m sure you can imagine, the PaPaw’s heart was bursting with joy and love when I hugged her. Two observations: 1) She did not run to me to get anything from me. She came simply to give me a hug and tell me she loved me. 2) She knew I would catch her and in my arms she was safe and nothing could harm her. I believe this is God’s desire for us to run to him and throw ourselves into his arms because he loves us and completes us. We pray that this holiday season you and your family will be blessed in all that you do and that Jesus would be the center of it all. Merry Christmas and a Blessed and Prosperous New Year,

Larry Cooke John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shal not perish but have eternal life.

Dear Friends:

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Ministry News: New Opportunities

We have been given the challenge and privilege of starting a new church among the medium security population at Eastham Prison. We are using the old chapel that seats about 200. We meet every Thursday. Please keep this new opportunity in prayer.

We give out 2,000 devotionals each quarter and have requests for more. The potential to impact men and women, that we might otherwise have no chance to reach personally, is incredible. There seems to be no limitation on how many people we might be able to reach with the devotionals. Praise the Lord. We continue to believe for increase.

As this year draws to a close we rejoice in what has been accomplished over the past 12 months and look forward to the opportunities and challenges to come in 2013. We look back over 27 years of ministry, and thank God for the over 7,000 services held and the approximately 45,000 – 50,000 salvations. We rejoice to see God at work through this ministry and we are thankful that God would allow us to be a part of reaching souls for the Kingdom. It is very humbling when we think of how so many of you have supported In the Word Ministries financially and prayerfully over the years to help make this ministry possible. From our hearts – thank you. For 20 years I have been writing and mailing out this newsletter, with one motivating desire: to encourage you that God has great plans for your life and to inspire you to live above what is going on in the world by seeking and serving God with all your heart. As a Christ-follower, if we will place our hope and trust in God’s promises, the possibilities and opportunities are limitless. Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.
