Programme: U-20 Fifa World Cup & Spanish Classes – Medellin, Colombia (Saturday 9th July – Sunday 21st August)
This summer is the Fifa under-20 World Cup in Colombia. We have secured 10 volunteering spots in the beautiful city of Medellin out of a total volunteer force of 200. The other 190 Fifa volunteers will all be local Colombians, promising to make it a pretty special experience!
Colombia - beautiful country, beautiful people, great food and the biggest threat nowadays is not wanting to leave. Colombia has just been voted as the second most attractive tourist destination in the world by readers of the New York Times. Known as the City of Eternal Spring, Medellin is a vibrant, energetic city and the base for our programme in Colombia. Come to Medellin and experience an outstanding climate – humidity free with an average temperature of 25 degrees, all year round. Mingle with the locals, known as ‘Paisas’, who those in the know describe as some of the friendliest people on earth. http://www.fifa.com/u20worldcup/destination/cities/city=1445/index.html Our programme will include 6 weeks of accommodation. This will be of the ‘homestay’ variety whereby you have a private room in a local family home. Homestays are traditionally the best way to advance your Spanish quickly. All of our homestays and families have been quality controlled. They are in the nicest and safest areas of town & include cleaning and internet. Your daily breakfast and dinner will also be included. Before the World Cup starts you will receive an intensive 3 week Spanish course, consisting of 20 hours group tuition per week (classes always contain less than 7 people). These 60 hours of intensive Spanish classes will be useful to refresh your Spanish and make sure you have the basics of Spanish required by Fifa to volunteer. The World cup starts on July 29 and goes on till August 20. You will do things like stewarding around the pitch & in the stadiums of the Under 20 games and, being fluent English speakers, you will also be involved in logistical issues such as helping the international press etc.
This programme will give you the opportunity to improve your Spanish rapidly and have an unforgettable experience! As this is a trial for the wider travel & educational business we are setting up, we are heavily discounting our prices. In return for this we ask for your help, suggestions and extensive feedback about where we can improve the programme. What’s included? 6 weeks homestay in the best area of the city with breakfast & dinner included Airport pickup Welcome orientation City tour 3 weeks of intensive Spanish classes in one of the best language schools of Medellin 4 hours per day. 3 weeks of volunteering at the Fifa Under 20 World Cup (here your lunch will be provided) 24/7 support from our ground staff Medical insurance Lots of nights out/trips! Price - £1,500 What’s not included? Flights To apply: Please send CV and covering letter (no more than one page A4) to email@example.com
Who are we? A British/South American educational and travel business called Intern Latin America. It was set up by David Lloyd along with local partners in Argentina, Chile and Colombia. David studied at Westminster School, University College London and the London School of Economics. Before setting up Intern Latin America he was a fixed income salesman on the Iberian desk for Merrill Lynch in London. David aims to give others fantastic experiences like he had along with advantages that last. David’s local partner in Colombia is Johanna Molina. Johanna graduated top of her class in Financial Engineering and holds a masters in Sales and Marketing. She worked in the Colombian stock exchange for 3 years with Valores Bancolombia. Johanna also lived for 2 years in London where she perfected her English and immersed herself in a new culture.
