That’s where our dummies come into their own...

HazMat

The use of healthy volunteers to act as the victim in your rescue training scenarios is obviously limited. Most volunteers object to being buried under a ton of concrete rubble, placed deep within a foul sewer pipe or dumped offshore in a rough and cold sea.

Multi Trauma

Whether you are a rescue professional or volunteer, trainer or occupational health manager you will appreciate the value of the products in this catalogue.

General Purpose

The General Purpose dummies are our most popular models for common rescue scenarios such as height, confined space, fire, urban search and rescue, road traffic accident and any general rescue & handling exercises.

The General Purpose dummy is ideally suited for predominantly dry rescue conditions. If it gets wet it needs to be hung in a dry airy place to dry before storage. For a wet environment rescue scenario, such as a chemical spillage where the dummy may be doused, or storm drain or cave rescue where the dummy needs to lay constantly in water we recommend using the HazMat rescue dummy.

1.8M

The General Purpose dummies, which are used extensively by the military, have been issued with NATO Stock Numbers. Available in seven sizes and weights, from the baby 5kg up to the very heavy 100kg adult. For more detailed information, including a full description of the construction methods, please visit our website.

They have anatomically correct weight distribution and the uncanny ‘feel’ of an unconscious patient. Tough enough to be buried under a concrete slab, steel lintels, trees or have motor vehicles laid upon them, they can present realistic scenarios for rescuers. The body carcass is heavy duty rot-proof canvas with all seams double stitched. High density polypropylene webbing provides extra strength and durability, especially at the high stress points. Machine-washable cotton/ polyester overalls reinforced with the same webbing are fitted to all sizes of dummy. The ends of the overall arms are further protected with nylon reinforced PVC. Fabric Detail shown here

All dummies of 20Kg and over are supplied complete with gum boots which also protect the legs if the dummy is dragged along the ground. Where the exercise involves constant dragging of the dummy we recommend fitting the Drag Protectors for additional protection. The shaped head allows the fitting of most types of immobilisation collars, and if the head gets badly soiled you can remove the red head cover and wash it. These dummies can safely be used in scenarios with temperatures up to 100ºC.

HazMat

The Hazmat dummy is a variant of our General Purpose Dummy, the main difference being that the HazMat dummy has a body carcass of nylon reinforced PVC that will withstand continuously wet conditions.

1.8M

This dummy is supplied with an overall similar to that supplied with our Water Rescue dummies made of polyurethane coated polyester strengthened with high-density polypropylene webbing. The ends of the arms are open to allow rapid drainage of water when retrieving or washing down after the exercise.(rewrite with new material overall) Note that this dummy has normal weighting so do not put it into deep water - it will sink ! For deep water rescue scenarios use the Water Rescue dummy, which is designed to float appropriately. This is a rugged dummy that will allow rescue scenarios in foul conditions previously impossible with healthy volunteers. For more detailed information please visit our website

Fire House

This higher specification, flame retardant dummy demonstrates a good balance between temperature and abrasion resistance. General construction is similar to the General Purpose dummy, but instead uses Nomex ® flame retardant material for the webbing on the heavy duty canvas carcass and for the overall. Standard gum boots protect the feet.

1.8M

A separate hood, also made in Nomex completely covers the head for additional protection. The Flame Retardant dummies will easily withstand constant temperatures of 180 C, the average temperature at knee height for ‘hot fire’ training. Flash-over temps greater than 1000°C are withstood by the dummy for short periods. Available in weights from 10kg to 70kg Although primarily designed for extreme temperature snatch rescue, these dummies are also tough enough to be buried under heavy objects to present a more complex scenario for rescuers. Bariatric (Obese)

This is the only rescue dummy in the world to simulate not only the weight of an obese patient but also the flesh bulk and movement experienced with these patients.

The Bariatric dummy is very challenging to manoeuvre, being not only so heavy but also very bulky. It is designed for a team of at least 4-6 people to rescue. It is supplied complete with a carrying sheet to assist in carrying and positioning the dummy.

1.8M

Only by using this dummy will the real life problems encountered with these patients be appreciated, and strategies developed for their extrication and transport. This is a real ‘team effort’ dummy ! For more detailed information please visit our website

Obesity is a becoming a very real problem for Ambulance and Fire crews across the World, and the problem is getting worse. Rescue and patient handling teams will need to consider how they will deal with casualties of this size and this dummy will enable realistic training to be conducted.

The Bariatric dummy available in 180kg or 260kg weights is constructed by using the 100Kg general purpose dummy with additional layers secured around the body, these being a mixture of the weighted layers and foam cushioning that enables the weighted flesh bulk to have some movement; the effect is actually very realistic.

Multi Trauma

A variant of the General Purpose dummy, the Multi-Trauma dummy has the right arm and right leg (below the knee) able to be completely or partially removed to simulate a serious amputation injury to the victim.

1.8M

Additionally, to simulate a traumatic impalement injury an orifice on the left side of the torso allows a fence post, star picket or similar to penetrate through the dummy and be firmly secured to prevent casual removal. The shaped head allows the fitting of most types of immobilisation collars. If the head gets badly soiled you can remove the red head cover and wash it. Supplied complete with gum boots and a webbingreinforced polyester cotton protective overall. The construction methods and materials used are basically the same as the rugged General Purpose dummy. Available in 30kg and 50kg weights. For more detailed information please visit our website

CPR Rescue

The CPR rescue dummy is designed around the standard 30kg general purpose dummy with the chest cavity left empty to take a standard CPR manikin. This full bodied CPR Rescue dummy is for use in or out of the classroom. You can now recreate a CPR rescue training scenario in the real outside rescue world in difficult situations, eg: confined space, the dummy trapped under a vehicle or tree, collapsed building etc. You can imagine your CPR trainees coming across this dummy in a situation other than the warmth (or cool) of the first aid course classroom with it’s flat carpeted floor.

1.8M

We can supply the dummy complete with the Simulaids Brad CPR torso, but it will accommodate most other manufacturers CPR manikin models if you already have one. The CPR torso isn’t actually fixed to the rescue dummy in any way and can simply be lifted out for cleaning or maintenance. The chest cavity of the dummy is also padded all round to protect the CPR torso when used in difficult situations. The complete CPR Rescue dummy with the manikin weighs 20Kg. If supplied with the Simulaids Brad mainkin it includes three disposable lung airway systems and mouth nosepieces. For more detailed information please visit our website

Body Recovery

The body recovery dummy was designed to aid rescue dive teams train to find and recover bodies from any watery situation – often murky, cold water

The ballast is stone coarse gravel as with the standard Water Rescue dummy.

1.8M

Polypropylene strips running from the shoulder area to the knee joint allowing forward flexibility in and out of the water, but do not allow the dummy to bend in half backwards when lifting from the front or when using stretchers or recovery devices. The addition of the facemask and wig gives a realistic look and feel and aids the identification of a human body in poor visibility - and when the search is by touch only. The dummy has a protective overall reinforced with polypropylene webbing and gum boots with drain holes. Both are user-replaceable if they become damaged For more detailed information please visit our website

The dummy is constructed as a variation of the standard Water Rescue dummy - but instead of floating, it sinks. By balancing the buoyancy against the ballast quantity the dummy weighs 50kg out of the water and realistically about 10kg under the water.

As with the Water Rescue dummies, a reinforced, heavy-duty Nylon mesh is used for the carcass with non-absorbent closed cell foam for buoyancy. The mesh allows the water to flood out of the body as it is being recovered and also allows better ventilation when the manikin hung up to dry.

Water Rescue

The Water Rescue dummy originally evolved from a collaborative development with recognised rescue professionals including the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and the British Navy. It is unique in realistically simulating an unconscious casualty in the water, providing a challenging weight to haul out, and yet be light enough, when dry, to manoeuvre to the scenario. Now used by NATO, US, Australian and NZ Navies, Coastguard and Lifeboat crews, Surf Life Saving Clubs, Emergency Services and water rescue agencies around the World. Although the construction of the Water Rescue dummy is similar in principle to our other dummies, the key difference is the use of tough nylon open mesh for the body carcass. The Adult dummy is 40kg when dry but when the dummy enters the water the nylon mesh allows the water to rapidly penetrate the dummy, which results in the dummy replicating the movement, drag and weight of a real casualty in the water weighing about 80 kg . Buoyancy is provided with closed-cell foam that does not absorb water and the ballast is crushed stone sealed in nylon pouches.

or rocks, and are user-replaceable if badly damaged.

When retrieving the dummy the water will flood out through the nylon mesh carcass thereby presenting a challenging but manageable recovery weight. The nylon mesh also allows better ventilation when the dummy is hung up to dry.

For alternative rescue scenarios where the patient is basically un-injured and well, such as Man Overboard from a yacht or IRB rescues or racing, see our Conscious Casualty dummy.

The protective polyurethane coated polyester overalls ,(get new description for new material) high-density polypropylene webbing in identified high stress areas, help keep the dummy clean and increase the lifespan of the dummy.

1.8M

A lifting loop at the back of the shoulders can be used to place or lift the dummy, and for hanging it up to dry.

The Water rescue dummies, which are used extensively by the military, have been issued with NATO Stock Numbers. For more detailed information please visit our website

The standard ‘Man Overboard’ water rescue dummy is supplied with bright orange overalls and SOLAS reflective tape on the head designed to be as conspicuous as possible. If your scenario is a more challenging ‘Search & Rescue’ scenario where you want the dummy to be difficult to see, such as a wet-suited victim, simply slip on the accessory S&R Black Hoodie which covers the dummy to waist level in black material and presents a real challenge to the rescuers. The Water Rescue dummy also has a ‘wrist’ that allows a rescuer to grasp the wrist as they may with a real casualty when in the water. A unique feature of the Water Rescue dummy are the strong plastic strips that run internally along the back from the shoulder area to the knee joint, these strips allow forward flexibility in and out of the water, but do not allow the dummy to bend backwards when the patient is lifted from the front. This modification facilitates easier rescues using stretchers or specialised recovery devices. The knees will not flex sideways.

The only water rescue dummy available in the world that realistically simulates both the weight and posture of a casualty in water.

The attitude of the dummy in the water can easily be adjusted from vertical to horizontal by moving the additional closed cell foam pieces in the overalls from the chest area to the shin pockets.

All water rescue training dummies are supplied complete with draining sturdy gum boots; the boots greatly protect the legs if the dummy is dragged along the over the beach

IRB Racing Need high-res files of these shots

The dummy weighs 20kgs when dry. After a few minutes in the water the dummy takes on the water and assumes an upright posture with arms aloft.

This dummy was developed as a water rescue dummy for IRB Racing, IRB driver training & Tube Rescue practice.

1.8M

The dummy attaches to a buoy or ‘can’ using a webbing strap with a velcro join attached to the webbing strap on neck of the dummy. As you grab the dummy with your arm through the dummies arms the velcro separates and you can drag it into the IRB as with a normal patient. The weight you are hauling is the dry weight of the dummy plus the water that has ingressed into the dummy, ~ 40+ kg Once in the IRB, the water runs out of the dummy and quickly returns to about 20kg which makes for reasonably easy management in the IRB.

This dummy never complains about the cold water, the aching arms and the sore shoulder or jaw from when the rescuer slightly misjudged the pick up. For IRB driver training you can now train in the roughest surf, close to the reef and in the coldest weather. The construction methods and materials are similar to the standard adult Water Rescue dummy but with the following modifications to make it ideal for the aggressive IRB training application:

A strong webbing loop behind the head helps position and retrieve the dummy, and hang up the dummy to dry after use. This is a tough and durable dummy which, with reasonable care, will last give years of productive training service. It opens up a wealth of new training scenarios previously impossible with volunteer patients. This dummy is also useful for general yachting ‘manoverboard’ scenarios where the patient is conscious and waving madly. You can drop it overboard from the yacht and practice your ‘Quick Turn’ repeatedly.

Model shown Fabric here Detail withshown overallhere on and off.

TThe problem for many surf clubs is to find enough willing volunteers to act as a patient for the IRB rescue teams for practice, especially during the colder months consequently, skill development suffers. Now you can train year round and practice fast pick ups as many times as you like.

The orange overall is made of polyurethane coated polyester which is tolerant of salt water. Polypropylene webbing is used in all high stress points.
