Getting traffic isn't rocket science, it's actually pretty easy when you know a few of the best tricks pro-bloggers are using everyday to get more traffic to their blogs. 1. Create an not-so-secret inner circle of your best buddies. • Put together a list of your very best and most influential readers. These are the ones who regularly interact with you or post replies to your posts, share your posts with their followers, send you articles, buy your products and so forth.

• Put these folks on your special inner circle list, and email them to let them know of their newly attained status. Let them know the benefits – they'll get to see your posts before the general public and they'll be apprised of any new offerings, updates and ideas before anyone else.

• Solicit their feedback on your posts. This creates a sense of ownership for them and increases the odds they will go out of their way to share your content with their followers.

• Give them special benefits to thank them for their help, and offer to help them in return. 14

2. Make it brain dead easy to share your content. If content is too difficult to share, your readers and inner circle are less likely to share it. So add the appropriate social sharing buttons for sites like Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn. 3. Write in-depth content that makes your readers look sexy-smart. Here's a little secret: People like to look super smart to their readers and friends. Okay, so maybe it's not a secret. But the fact is, in-depth articles tend to get shared more because the people sharing them want their friends to think they read in-depth articles. Plus, when someone new lands on your in-depth article, they are more likely to subscribe to get even more info than if they land on a simple fluff piece. Another secret: Posts with images, lists and videos will attract over 5 times more links than posts containing only plain text. So don't stop at just the words – add things like images and graphs to make it share-worthy. 4. Cheat. Just a little. This isn't really cheating, but it sure feels like it. Look at your old content and find the pieces that are still relevant, whether they were written 3 months ago or a year ago. Now share them again via social media. This way you get new traffic without having to write new content – how awesome is that? 5. Write a mini-sales letter to promote each blogpost. Traditionally, when a blogger writes a new post she sends out the title and first paragraph to her list with an invite to click the link and read the rest. But the real meat of a blogpost isn't in that intro paragraph, which is why this method isn't worth beans. Instead, write a mini sales letter that gets the email reader curious and excited to know more. This doesn't have to be long; 50 -100 of the right words is perfect. Build curiosity and show them what the big benefits / takeaways of reading your article will be, and your clickthrough rates should double if not triple. That's it – 5 simple tips to increase your blog traffic. Pick out your favorite and try it right now, then make a note to use the other 4 within the next 7 days and you should begin to see a real boost in your traffic within the month. 15

_____________________________________________________ The Habit Ladder: How To Make A New Routine Stick When one good habit triggers another, the speed of success doubles.

I can hardly remember what my mornings look like these days. It’s taken years and much trial and error, but I have a routine now that needs no thought to be completed. Each action, all morning long, is pre-scripted, memorized, and controlled by habit. I wake up and put my running clothes on. A 5-mile run leads to a shower, breakfast, and then my most important task of the day. The same thing happens, like clockwork, every… single… day. What I—and many others, perhaps yourself—have constructed is what I like to call a habit ladder—an automatic process that quickly ushers you from a heap of barely-awakeness to a productive human being. A morning routine is just one example of a habit ladder, though. The same concept can be applied across every aspect of your life to make the important actions you want to take quick and painless. And the trick isn’t so much in what you do, but the order you do them in.

The Loop: How A Habit Works Why do you bite your fingernails without thinking? Get distracted? Eat poorly? Likewise, why do you exercise without the slightest protest? Get your hardest work done first? Floss your teeth every day? The answer is you’ve built a habit—an automatic action that, once created, you no longer have to think about. It’s your brain’s way of offloading all the work required to get through the day. And a lot of smart researchers—particularly a group from MIT —have figured out how your brain builds a habit. They call it the habit loop [1], and it works like this: 16

Take flossing, for example. It’s a habit I recently picked up after being scolded by my dentist for the 25th time. At the beginning of every habit is a cue. This is the thing that tells your brain, “Okay, it’s time to start this habit loop.” For me, the cue that it’s time to floss is when I’ve finished brushing my teeth. Once your brain spots a cue, you go into zombie mode; you’re driven by your routine rather than conscious thought. I go directly from brushing my teeth to rolling a waxed string around my fingers without a pause. And every habit ends with a reward—the reason you’re driven by the cue and routine in the first place. For me, it’s the release of tension knowing my dentist won’t frown as much the next time I see her.

Charles Duhigg explains the ins and outs of the habit loop in detail in his bestselling book, The Power of Habit. Understanding this will help you identify and alter your existing habits, but there’s another tool you can use to help you create new ones faster. You know cementing a new habit is hard, but you probably have a few that came naturally. Take a hard look at those easy habits and ask yourself, “What was it that made them so easy to pick up?” 17

When I look at my own—particularly my morning routine—it’s glaringly obvious. Each habit came easily because the beginning of one is triggered by the end of another. 1. When I wake up, that’s a cue to put on clothes. 2. I choose to put on my running clothes rather than work clothes, and that’s my cue to go outside and start running. 3. When I finish running, I’m sweaty, which cues my shower and, by the time I’m out of the shower, I’m ravenous for breakfast which is my cue to eat. 4. Since I’ve just exercised, my body wants a healthy meal rather than garbage breakfast foods, so I eat a clean meal. 5. Finally, the energy boost from breakfast and endorphins from running give me exactly what I need to tackle my hardest work first thing in the morning.

This is called a habit ladder because, from the time I wake up to finishing my first work task of the day, I’m leveling up one rung at a time. Each new step is reached because of the last. Notice from my example, it’s not always the reward from one habit loop that triggers the next. Sometimes it’s a tangential result. The reward from running isn’t “doing better work.” It’s a feeling of accomplishment for my health. But the runner’s high I get as a tangential result boosts me through those few hours of early morning work. The habit ladder doesn’t just apply to a morning routine, or even just one day. I also use it in my writing tasks where each one I complete to finish an article spurs me on to the next. You could also use it to set yourself up early in the week for actions you know you’ll want to take later but will be worn out if you don’t put the triggers in place now. 18

If you’re working to cement new habits but having a hard time, it could have less to do with the habits themselves and more to do with how they’re arranged. Try looking at each from a perspective of the habit loop—cue, routine, reward—and find opportunities to rearrange them so the reward—or tangential result—from one helps to create the cue for the next. That’s how success becomes automatic all day long.

What's a link roundup? Basically, it's a blog post with lots of links to recent articles from fellow bloggers. If you can get featured in a link roundup, you get a link that helps with SEO, and you get traffic from that blog.

So how can you get your posts featured in link roundups? First, create amazing content that is totally share-worthy. We're not talking run of the mill stuff, we're talking, “Holy cow, I gotta tell others about this!”

Second, reach out to other bloggers so you get on their radar. You can do this through commenting on their posts, getting in touch with them personally, and even starting your own link roundup. In fact, this might be the best strategy of all. Think about it – each week you feature maybe 10 posts from other bloggers in your niche. What are some of those marketers going to do? Link back to your article and even feature your content in future posts of theirs.

How would you describe the purpose of your marketing and selling system? Most marketers say it's to get more leads or close more sales. But according to Dov Gordon, the purpose of your marketing should be to answer the #1 question on the mind of your ideal client as they

are having that thought. If we could read the mind of a prospect during the sales process, we would see they go through three stages. It's the marketer's job to get the prospect to say “yes!” at each of those stages before moving on to the next. The stages are really 3 sets of fundamental questions in the

prospect's mind; questions that every prospect asks, whether they know it or not: 1. “Should I pay attention? Is this interesting to me?” If your marketing leads their brain to say yes, then the second question is... 2. “You got me interested, but are you for real? Can I trust you?” If your

marketing system helps them say yes, then their third question is... 3. “But my situation is different - can you help ME? Will it work for ME?” 39

If they answer yes to all 3 in turn, then you have a new client. Thus the real job of your marketing and selling system is to help them answer “Yes!� to each question in sequence. And looking at the list of three, you can see the first job of your marketing and selling system is to get the interest of your ideal client. Notice you want their interest, not just their attention. A person walking by their desk or a noise in the next room will get their attention but it won't hold their interest. A funny cat video will get their attention for a minute or two, but then they will go back to what they were working on; the thing that they're actually interested in. Lots of things get attention, but there are only two things that get interest from your prospects: 1. A problem they have and don't want 2. A result they want and don't have Most marketers talk about everything BUT the problem /result, and thus most marketing fails. To be successful, your marketing must always lead with one of these two things. Exercise: Make a list of the problems you help solve, and another list of the results you enable. Find your strongest one, and write headlines that clearly demonstrate either that you've got the solution to their problem, or the method to get the result they seek. 40

This headline will be your attention getting device, and it will help prospects to zero in on you like a starving man zeroing in on a big sandwich. Your next step is to demonstrate that you are for real, and can in fact deliver on your promise. This is where you speak of the results you've achieved for other customers, the expertise you bring to the table, the special skills or tools you use and so forth. And the final step is to show them that yes, you can help THEM, even though their situation is different. Everyone believes their situation is unique, even though it seldom is. Anecdotes can work well for this: “We can help nearly anyone solve this problem or get this solution. For example, Stella had been to 21 experts and read 145 books on the topic and still couldn't solve her problem. But just 3 weeks after ordering our course her problem was solved and she got these results, too.” Or, “Thanks to our innovative system, your ___ will be custom tailored to your exact needs.” Or, “We realize that different people have different needs. That's why we offer 5 different programs so you can choose the one that's perfect for you.” I've elaborated here, since Dov didn't go into this much detail. But you have to admit, he has two really good points: First, you need to get your prospect to answer “Yes!” to each of those three questions, and do it in order. And second, prospects are really only looking for two things: Their problems solved and their desires fulfilled. When you look at your marketing this way, it becomes a lot easier to simplify your entire sales process and streamline it down to want really matters – and what ultimately gets the sale. 41

Is there a trick to writing marketing emails that get the click? Actually, there are 20 tricks, and here they are: Use a great subject line:

Be specific and useful. Rather than saying, “You're going to love this,” use “How to get a 27% increase in stamina.” 1.

Identify yourself consistently. Don't call yourself Bob Jones in one email, Robert Jones in a second email and Jones Consulting in a third. Pick a name and stick with it so recipients recognize you.


Use words such as 'sale,' 'new,' 'alert,' 'news bulletin,' 'daily,' weekly' and 'free.'


Ask a question. “Are you ready for this Tuesday?” or “Do you know how to ncrease subscribers by 42% with one tweak?”


Test your subject lines, then reuse what works and discard what doesn't.


Don't use the same or similar subject line twice in a row. Ever.


Use timely topics when possible.


Use [but don't over use] urgency.

Make your call to action and button visually distinctive and inviting 20. Lastly, remember to make your emails mobile friendly. Picture size needs to be reduced for fast loading times. You can use a service such as Photo Resizer to reduce the file size without losing the image quality. And define image size by proportion if your email editor doesn't do this automatically, so the images look good on any sized screen. To do this, set the max-width to the proportion of the screen you want it to take up, and set the height to “auto� to automatically adjust based upon the width. One final thing: Put some personality into it. No one responds positively to being bored, and blending with the crowd won't get you sales. Instead of being a business robot, be yourself and have fun with your subscribers.

Don't think that all the best bloggers simply give their information away for free – everyone needs to earn a living! Go through this checklist to find ways to make money from your blog.

STEP 1: Check Your Competitors At first, you might not think there are ways to make money from your blog. This is why it’s a great idea to start by checking what your competitors are doing – they are a great source of ideas!

☐ Search Google and top blog sites for competitors in your niche. ☐ How do they make money? I looooove that fact that my friends and family have no clue what I do.

I played dumb, and asked, “Really? Where you learning, film school or something?”

So, needless to say, it’s quite comical when someone tries to put it in words and explain your “internet business” to others...

“No, no! There’s a guy on YouTube, I’ve been following his stuff.”

And that’s what my barber was trying to do, when something crazy happened...

He whipped out his phone to show me the proof. My response...

The guy who cuts my hair is literally two doors down from Wedmore HQ.

He sees me every day. I’m either filming a video on my iPhone or prepping for a video shoot in our studio.

“Oh ya, that’s me! I made that video.” “WHAAAAT?! NO WAY!!” This is a true story.

So, he knows I’m “a video guy.” ...or something.

What are the odds? A complete stranger who had been binge-watching my videos is now sitting right next me in line to get his hair cut. He even had the videos open on his phone!

And those were the exact words he used when he tried introducing me to his next client, who was sitting in the waiting room of his shop.

Here’s the moral of the story: he went from “not interested, I just need to get my hair cut,” to “holy cow that’s James Wedmore!” an instant.

“This is James, he’s a video guy...videographer... he makes videos... is that right?”

My videos did that.

Before I could correct my barber, this gentleman in the chair perked up with excitement! Here’s what he said: “No way! I’m actually learning how to make videos myself, right now!”

Videos I posted years ago did that. They transformed me from an average, everyday Joe in a hair salon to a celebrity... an authority.

That’s the power of video seen first hand right before my eyes.

Now, let’s look at the facts:

I laughed as I recalled a Facebook post I’d seen that said, “Everyone’s shouting, is anyone really listening?”

A recent study found that only 20% of people read an entire article start to finish.

There is SO much noise in the marketplace, they say. There are too many online experts and specialists, they say.

Meanwhile, the length of a VIDEO had no effect on viewer engagement! In fact in one study, 55% of viewers were still watching after 6 minutes, and another one found 64% of users more likely to purchase after watching a video!

Ha! This guy didn’t know me, but he DID know James Wedmore, “the YouTube guy.” And in a matter of seconds, our entire relationship changed. All it took was making a few videos.

Heck! It wasn’t because I had the BEST videos. It was because I had the RIGHT videos (I’ll share those in a minute)

Not to mention social video generates 1,200% more shares than text and images combined! Bottom line: video MUST be part of your strategy. Snapchat. YouTube. Instagram. Facebook. It doesn’t matter. They’re all using video now. Why aren’t you? So, if you’ve felt stuck and unsure of which videos to create or prioritize, or even where the heck to start... ...the rest of this article is for you.

I Just Care About You! This is just me meditating here at my desk. I don't have a training video or any training content to send to you today. I'm just thinking about life. I'm thinking about how blessed I feel to have such good people I am surrounded by. I love entrepreneurs who care about the well-being of others. I love creating a family-like team culture where we can all support each other. I can lift others up when they are down, and they can be the wind in my sails when I lose my push. Everyone's success doesn't take away from yours, but rather inspires you to strive for more. Lives are changing every day because of what we do, as network marketers who are building upon the foundations of our WHY's. With all of the chaos and turmoil in the world with violence, the political uncertainty, the economic nervousness, and with the media attempting to divide people - I feel more than ever that we are blessed to live in this bubble of love and compassion. As I sat in the front row at our company convention last weekend with over 10,000 people, I looked around. You know what I saw? I saw the world, united, joined by a common mission and connected in a common journey towards a better life. I had a day dream that the world would be like us in that arena. We have to spread the good word and let more people into our bubble. People are struggling and need to know this such an environment exists. It's easy to get caught up in a lack of explosive numbers, or get discouraged when your business isn't building as fast as you'd like. Just remember, this is a journey. It's not a race. And it will NOT be always up and to the right. There will be ups and downs, highs and lows. Just focus on being congruent, your lofty goals and focused work. The lazy will never experience lasting success. It's a law. Those of us who exhibit consistent, strong work ethic are the ones who truly know the sweet taste of fulfillment.
