M ask M aki ng Co mi ng Ali ve Do you want to realize a trip to Italy in the mindsixteenth century and to know the wonderful world of the Theatre and Dance of the Commedia dell'Arte? International Life Experience organizes The atr e and M ask M aki ng o f the Co m me dia dell'Ar te in Florence and Venice, Italy, for act ors and dance rs (or any person who wants to plunge into the world of this theatrical genre) to enhance their physical expression and learn the techniques of storytelling and improvisation of the Commedia dell'Arte. This course takes you deep into the Theater and Mask-Making of Commedia dell’Arte world. You will learn the history of the mask and about some Commedia dell’Arte character types. You will also learn Mask Design which includes sculpture for leather masks, mold making, leather molding, cutting and trimming, and coloring and finishing. You will finish this class with two masks and the knowledge of the process and experience to create more masks. It’s al l ab out the e xp eri enc e! The course will take place in Florence and Venice, Italy, 6 to 11 February 2017. The Theater and Mask-Making course includes 40 hours of instruction and participants will have the late aftertoon free to explore Florence. On Saturday 11 February the students will visit Venice for participal in a play (ticket from Florence to Venice and theatrical costumes are included in the price). th

W hat i s include d: • Welcome reception and drink. • Basic supplies such as clay, sculpture tools, master mold making material and some finishing materials though some other materials you may need to purchase. • Excursions and extra cultural activities. Participants will have the option of participating in various excursions (some are at an additional cost). o Piazza Michelangelo at sunset. o Trip to Fiesole for spectacular views of Florence. o Day trip to Venice. • Participant keeps mask(s). • Certificate at end of course.
