Masters Exhibition 14 - 25 June Master artists Brian Dahlberg and Lance O’Gorman join forces to create an artistic tour de force unseen in recent times. Masters is an exhibition of excellence featuring two of New Zealand’s leading artists, working in the world’s best selling genre of landscape. Drawing upon a combined total of over six decades as professional artists, O’Gorman and Dahlberg offer fresh perspectives on God’s Own. As the world turns ever more rapidly to tunes of change and commerce, the power and peace afforded by New Zealand’s southern skies, bush-clad hills and hidden natural gems becomes increasingly precious. The remarkable talents of Dahlberg and O’Gorman take the viewer on a transformative journey, one that may be enjoyed daily through the contemplation of these modern day masterpieces of contemporary New Zealand landscape.

Brian Dahlberg - Five Rivers, Southland - Oil on board - 60 x 122 cm - $8,750 On a recent South Island road trip, Dahlberg enjoyed the hospitality and rich rural landscape of Five Rivers, a rural community located due north of Lumsden, in the heart of some of Southland’s best trout fishing and farming country. Five Rivers takes its name from the historic Five Rivers Station established in 1857 by farming pioneer Arthur Hogue and named because of the five streams which rise in the Eyre Mountains and descend in a general south-easterly direction to join the Oreti River. Today sheep, cattle and deer farms prosper and the area is a destination for cross-country skiers, trampers and climbers. In Five Rivers, Southland Dahlberg brings his considerable talents to the fore, affording his viewer the privilege of heading South on a road less travelled. At the foot of the rugged Eyre Mountains, a woolshed and other farm buildings are sheltered by trees and hills. This is a painting which captures the greens and golds of Southland beneath a wide blue sky ..... Dahlberg interprets these elements in his own unique style, and in doing so creates a brilliant contemporary landscape.

Brian Dahlberg - P’s Off Musick Point, Hauraki Gulf - Oil on board - 66 x 184 cm - $15,000 Bean Rock lighthouse was first lit in 1871 and is the only surviving wave washed wooden cottage lighthouse in New Zealand. It was named after Captain Bean, Master of the HMS Herald which surveyed the Waitemata Harbour in 1840. Designed by Scottish engineer James Stewart, the lighthouse was completed in a record eight months by Auckland builder, William Cameron. Iron foundations were driven deep into the rock to support kauri poles in a hexagonal pattern. The lighthouse lens was manufacture by Chance Bros of London. Today Bean Rock Lighthouse is recognised as a Category One Historic Place. In this Auckland heartbeat of a painting, Dahlberg revisits the blue waters of our Hauraki Gulf. Perfect timing, as P Class yachts, sailed by the next generation of world class competitors dot the horizon, with one lone sail centre stage between Bean Rock and Rangitoto.
