Sandslash, a daughter of Holy Roman Emperor and Slap Shot, was also not sold and is now an unbeaten Group winner having beaten older fillies and mares to win the Premio Carlo Chiesa (G3) in April. “Sandslash was very nervous from the moment she arrived at the sale,” Honore remembers. “She wouldn’t stand still and although we walked her for hours and then took the grill off the door of her box so she could see what was going on around her by the time she went up to the ring she had lost all of her condition and looked very small, and buyers just don’t like small horses.” Nice Danon, a son of Sakhee, was sold privately at the sale to Stall Angelo and although he was disqualified after winning a Group race at Baden-Baden at two, he has won and been placed in a Listed and a Group 3 race since.
