CORE BIKE 2011 PREVIEW

You’re Core-dially invited... ...to the ever-popular, trade-only, long-established cycle trade show at Whittlebury Hall. Jonathon Harker previews some of the upcoming attractions set to rock Core Bike 2011...

2pure CLIF SHOT is a new, all natural electrolyte replacement drink for Clif Bar. Available in Cranberry-Razz and Lemonade, the Shots will appear at Core alongside the new Clif Builder bars, boasting all-natural protein and available in Chocolate, ChocolateMint and Peanut Butter. Also showing at the 2pure Core stand will be Crank Brothers – with new-feature packed Eggbeater and Candy pedals. The brand also has an all-new line-up of cockpit parts including stems, bars and seatposts for XC and all-mountain use. Pedro’s Master Toll Kit 3.0 – known to many in the trade as the ‘MTK’ – will appear, as will Pinhead’s new Bubble Lock – the backbone of a complete one-key locking system that secures bike frames. The 65 year-old firm De Marchi will bring along some stand out models in the SS2011 range, like the Contour EVO jersey and Contour EVO Bib Short. Elsewhere, the Ibis Mojo HD (Heavy-Duty) is built like a tank, but

Buff and Sueme doesn’t ride like one, with a 1.5 tapered steerer and refined carbon layup. The Hakkalugi has returned to the fold too, with a huge chunk of weight removed from the carbon fibre frame. Niterider’s 2011 range of technical lighting systems sees the introduction of the Lightning Bug and Stinger Tailight, both boasting easy installation so they can be quickly removed and popped into the cyclist’s pocket. Other highlights include the Pro 700 LED and 700 LED Race, the latest MiNewt lights: the 700 Dual, 350, 250 cordless and 150 cordless.

BUFF WILL preview its Polar Buff Reversible, a swish combination of two of the most well-loved Buff fabrics – Original Buff polyester microfibre and Polartec fleece – into a continuous tube. This combo creates an air cushion to prevent heat loss. Worn in over 30 different ways, it retails at £24 with a trade price of £11.75. Also from the firm will be the Buff High UV Protection Collection, packed with new designs for spring ’11. All products in the collection rapidly absorb sweat, with a high degree of transpiration and between 93 and 98 per cent protection from the sun. The High UV Protection Buff is available in adult and junior sizes and retails at £14, trade £6.75 excluding VAT. Other Buff highlights at Core will include multifunctional cap Visor Buff and Visor Buff Evo2. The Buff Headband – a speedy absorber of sweat from the forehead during physical outdoor activities – will also appear at the show. Sueme will be previewing its responsibly resourced range of sportswear, including uber comfy tees. The firm started with the aim of creating the most comfortable and planet-friendly

tee shirts ever, and that mantra has been extended into the range of sportswear. Those ever-popular tees use a blend of bamboo viscose and organic cotton; the former is resistant to odour, highly absorbent and super soft on the skin, while the cotton gives the garment stability and resistance to wear. Sueme prints and care instructions use waterbased inks to reduce the use of solvents to the absolute minimum, keeping the print breathable and soft. Each SueMe Tee comes with a reusable, unbleached cotton shopper to reduce packaging, while the Tee itself features a range of details that have been transferred to the rest of the range that includes hooded sweats, men’s workpants and men’s and women’s trunks.
