APPG on Intensive Care

The Summer meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Intensive Care focused on Continuing Professional Development (CPD), the approach and investment needed to retain expert ICU staff and support their career progression. We were fortunate to have a multi-professional panel speak directly to key priorities for their professional cohort.

While there was a variety of perspectives, all panel members underscored the urgency in ensuring staff have the core conditions to thrive at work. You can read the full minutes of the meeting for more information on the discussion on our website at bit.ly/APPGjuly

Workforce remains central to our programme of work this year whilst we also champion improvements in rehabilitation post intensive care admission.

ICU Rehabilitation Day saw APPG member, Baroness Ilora Finlay pay a visit to her local ICU. Following the visit, she reflected that “the recognition of the importance of the patient pathway is really impressive, and the way the whole team works together to upskill each member of the team was very noticeable”

Additionally, as part of our work to educate and inform decision makers, we continue to engage with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Royal College of Physicians who lead multi-stakeholder policy streams on workforce and investment in rehabilitation.
