themselves by using the vocabulary and the grammatical structures they have learned during their preschool experience.

Natural way A child passes through special times in his life when he easily incorporates a particular ability. There is a sensitive period when language learning takes place more easily, it is from birth up to 6 years and we take advantage of this moment offering them the new language in a natural way. In our English lessons, we take into account the child’s learning style and development and we respect these three natural stages: 1. During the first stage, the child memorizes words and simple sentences and relies on non-verbal communication. They say very little in the new language, the child stores information. A child should not be forced to speak the new language. Some children do not say anything in class but go home and tell their parents what they have learned in class. By repeating songs, chants, games,... children will be able to reproduce the new language without the stress of having to speak individually. 2. During the second stage, the child begins to communicate with the teacher. He begins to build sentences with the new words and to memorize them. He tries to communicate without fear of making mistakes. 3. During the third stage the child tries to speak with the correct grammar, vocabulary and proper pronunciation. By the end of the preschool experience, the child is able to switch from one language to another. Our English lessons are based on meaningful topics: our contents are relevant, significant to the children and based on realistic situations. We encourage the children to repeat

practising and producing.

It is useful to keep on repeating every topic and unit in order to reinforce the vocabulary and structures learned along the school year.

In La Vall, we create a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment where our children can enjoy learning and where they can grow in confidence by interacting spontaneously.

An established routine can help our students, it gives them a sense of security and they know what to expect. That’s why, as teachers, we always follow these three steps in our daily routine: presenting,

Lessons are dynamic Our lessons are flexible and dynamic by changing activities every five or ten minutes. We keep our children’s attention by using a wide range of different materials (bits, flashcards, bags, interactive whiteboards,...) and by using lots of different activities (games, songs, movement activities, chants, conversation activities,...). Children in La Vall learn English in a fun and natural way!!
