FANFARE: A Celebration of Unity

Admired for his “meticulous guidance, superb musicianship and extraordinarily imaginative interpretation,” Khudyev has performed around the United States, Europe and Asia at world-class venues and festivals including the Kennedy Center, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy. Currently, Khudyev serves as the Music Director of the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, and the Music Director of the Orchestral Institute at the Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts in Carmel, California.

With a contagious smile and captivating charm, conductor, trumpet virtuoso, singer, and actor Byron Stripling has ignited audiences across the globe. In 2020, Stripling was named Principal Pops conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and currently serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the highly acclaimed Columbus Jazz Orchestra. He has led countless orchestras throughout the United States and Canada, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

JAE COSMOS LEE

The Magic of Mozart

You know Jae Cosmos Lee as the Cape Symphony’s Concertmaster and founding member of A Far Cry, the Grammy-nominated selfconducted orchestra based in Boston. Jae has performed in concert halls throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and Asia, and music festivals worldwide including Aspen, Chautauqua, Banff, and Salzburg. Jae has worked closely with the members of the Cleveland, Juilliard, and Tokyo String Quartets, and shared the stage with everyone from renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro to the most exciting chamber ensembles performing today.

Joy, merriment, and the magic of Mozart

THE MAGIC OF MOZART

If the saying holds true that artists craft their works as reflections of their personalities, then it is undeniable that Mozart pioneered the concept. Join us for an evening of enchanting melodies and artistic brilliance as we pay homage to the extraordinary talent and genius of Mozart. This unique concert, under the guidance of concertmaster Jae Cosmos Lee, will offer a splendid array of musical tastings from Mozart's most renowned creations, ranging from the enchanting Magic Flute to the majestic Symphony in Prague.

JOE MARCHIO

Holiday on the Cape

Joe Marchio has endeared himself to Cape Symphony audiences in his role of Assistant Conductor and frequent host of our “Musically Speaking” pre-concert talks. He also serves as Music Director of the Chatham Chorale, and Pastor and Director of Music at First Congregational Church of Chatham. Marchio holds degrees from The College of Wooster, Yale University, and Boston Conservatory, where he received his master of music degree in conducting, studying under Dr. William Cutter.

KEVIN FITZGERALD

Passport to Hungary

American conductor Kevin Fitzgerald’s open-hearted presence and commitment to a diverse and modernized musical world bring him to the forefront of the next generation of conductors. He has appeared with the renowned Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra and conducted numerous world-premiere performances at TMC Festival of Contemporary Music. Notable guest engagements include the Manhattan School of Music’s (MSM) Symphony Orchestra and serving as preparation conductor for Leonard Slatkin for MSM's Centennial Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall.

GERALD STEICHEN

The James Bond Experience: Music Behind the Man

Regarded as one of America’s most versatile conductors, Gerald Steichen has enjoyed an illustrious career at the helm of symphonies, opera, and Broadway productions across the US and beyond. Steichen spent ten seasons with New York City Opera at Lincoln Center and toured nationally as Music Director of The King and I, and associate conductor of The Phantom of the Opera, The Secret Garden, and Peter Pan. He has been a frequent guest conductor for the Boston Pops, New Jersey Symphony and the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall.

FRANCISCO NOYA Better Together

Now in his sixth season as the Music Director of the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, Noya’s reputation for versatility and expertise in conducting both symphonic and operatic works has established him as a prominent figure in the Boston and New England music communities. He has appeared as guest conductor with the Boston Pops, Baltimore, Nashville, San Antonio and Omaha Symphonies, as well as international appearances with orchestras in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, and Russia. Noya also holds the distinction of being a member of the conducting faculty at the Berklee College of Music.

Young: The Elton John Tribute and Our Ocean

Carolyn Watson has been celebrated nationally and internationally as a versatile conductor of symphonic music and opera. She is the recipient of a number of prestigious awards for young conductors, among them the Brian Stacey Award for emerging Australian conductors. As Music Director of the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, Watson won the 2015 American Prize for Orchestral Performance with this ensemble, also collaborating with soloists including Mark O’Connor and Alexandre Tharaud during her tenure.
