Lord Norman Foster puts his signature to the project for the premises of the new Yacht Club Monaco, soon to be the world capital of luxury yachting. The building that will house the new headquarters of the Yacht Club Monaco (YCM) will be opened in less than two years, by spring 2014, and already there is talk of great novelty and innovation in the Principality of Monaco. This is because, thanks to the project conceived by the office of the British architect Lord Norman Foster, for the first time, a type of futuristic structure will be built which recalls both in the exterior and internal spaces, those transatlantic liners connecting the old world to the new at the beginning of the 1900’s. Ideally located between Avenue Louis II and the Quai Kennedy, on a section of the Formula 1 course, the future office of the YCM will be within walking distance of the Société Nautique and will consist of 18,000 sq metres set over five floors: between its walls and its façade made of many glass and aluminium panels, it will accommodate the Rowing Club, the Sailing club, but also various meeting rooms, the Club House, the Hall of Honour, the roof-top bar with its outdoor swimming pool, the adjacent fitness area and a library. All these elements will be able to satisfy not only the requirements of the 1200 members of the Club but also create a prestigious welcoming area for the various shipping, yachting pros and ship-owners wishing to organize meetings, cultural evenings and prestigious galas. As well as Foster’s creativity, The Monaco architect Alexandre Giraldi also participates in this ambitious project, - the same architect who built the skyscraper “Tour Odeon” for the Marzocco group, ed. note with the supervision of the Monaco Public Works Department, chaired by Mr. Olivier LAVAGNA who has been invited next 26th September to the Italian Employers’ Association of Monaco (AIIM), precisely to illustrate, during a dinner debate organized at the YCM, the various progress phases in creating this futuristic building. In other words, there are all the basic premises for counting the Principality of Monaco among the most prestigious capitals of yachting, sport and nautical clubs and one of the most performing in the Mediterranean Sea. In the meantime…fair winds to you all.

Antonio Caliendo and the Golden Foot Award: this is how legends are born.

Italy is also playing a leading role at the Mics in Monaco

He was the first footballers’ manager in history and an historic figure and a point of reference for sportsmen and pros of the football market. He lived his life as if it were a fascinating and not a casual experience. This because Antonio Caliendo, born in 1944, despite deciding to live far away from the limelight and the paillettes of Monaco’s parties, managed to create worldwide football myths by telling us about them since 2002 and by building a legendary promenade marked out with all their footprints along the Champions’ Promenade, the “Walk of Fame” of football on the seafront of the Principality of Monaco. The names of the champions destined to become legend are, really, the result of a selection for the Golden Foot Award and for this tenth edition the panel consisting of 52 journalists representing the various media partners of the event has chosen the following footballers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden), Ricardo Kaká (Brazil), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Carles Puyol (Spain), Raúl González Blanco (Spain), Clarence Seedorf (Holland), Xavi Hernández (Spain). But the web governing nation has its say by voting its favourite champion directly on the website of the Golden Foot Award (www.goldenfoot.com) from June till 12.00 on 12th October (Monaco time). Not many people know that the Golden Foot Award which can boast the Patronage of H.M. the Prince Albert II and the collaboration of the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority’s Convention Bureau, also has a glamorous side to it: a gala evening where not only emotions may win out but generosity too. This year the event, which has also been included in the programme of the various activities of the Sportel – an exhibition dedicated to the sale and purchase of sport programs for television and other new media, ed. note– will take place on 17th October 2012 at 8,00 pm. at the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Club. Among the guests, besides many top secret personalities and VIPs who have not missed the event in years, there are legends of worldwide football: among these the unforgettable Edson Arantes do Nascimento, best known as “O Rey” Pelé, Franco Baresi and Lothar Matthaus, awarded at the Golden Foot 2012, in order to leave their footprints next to those of other great footballers such as Ronaldo, Platini, Zidane, George Best, Diego Maradona, Romario, Luis Figo, Del Piero and many others. As a matter of fact, the ceremony and the gala dinner are open to the public – registrations open till 10th October: given the prestige of the event, as in every edition the presence of the Monaco Sovereign is eagerly expected as up to now he has always attended for most of the evening. Finally, a note for collectors of exceptional snapshots: during the Golden Foot Gala a charity auction will take place consisting of about thirty photos to be assigned to the highest bidders, all of them signed by Eric Cantone himself and on exhibition from Monday 15th directly at the Grimaldi Forum during the Sportel exhibition.

In view of the third sparkling edition of the Monaco International Clubbing Show (MICS), a show devoted to the night pros, Richard Borfiga, one of its founders and creator of the event, has recently appointed his ambassador for the Italian market. Vladimiro Bizzocchi, consultant in the tourist and business management sector, with a strong working background carried out between Rimini, his home town, and abroad, will be the spokesman for the Mics that this year will take place from 7th to 9th November at the Grimaldi Forum of Monaco. Three days and 4 nights of fun are expected, DJ contests, the unmissable exhibition of FMX at the port of Monaco and theme nights in most of the nightspots of the Principality. The event will also be an opportunity to welcome the most exclusive international clubs and the night event pros, the real leaders of the fun industry, who, despite everything, know no economic crisis. Mics, on the strength of last years results, with more than 10,000 visitors, 517 representatives of night premises, 104 stands and many brands in beverages, light and sound systems, may now also rely on neighbouring Italy to compare the creativity of its “night” leaders, loyal to the principle of gathering in one place all the most important pros of youth’s fun from the after-dinner onwards. Among other novelties of this edition the program “Best Buyers”, completely dedicated to the meeting and the b2b created ad hoc to help sellers meet field buyers. There will also be, exclusively for the booking agencies, the promoters but also the music managers, the unique opportunity given by the area “Live Booking”, completely devoted to live music where new talents of electronic music may perform at the mixer. In other words, once again, events such as this demonstrate that only in the Principality of Monaco, is it possible to meet the professional world of any sector in less than 2 square Kilometres; it is the magic of a fairy tale which, besides creating new important working opportunities, allows youngsters to dream and have fun on the dance floors and not only during the weekends ...
