Coalition of Innovating Congregations Grants for 2013-2014

Strengthen the Network & Sustain & Expand High Impact Models


The Coalition of Innovating Congregations has 1. 50 congregations connecting to one another and to resources to fuel innovation 2. 12+ types of High Impact Models to speak to the needs of today’s learners 3. 3,000 children and 2,300 families experiencing powerful whole person learning and assessment 4. 1,000 teachers experiencing regularized professional learning


What We Have Learned 1. Shortcuts to new models (Express Innovation) 2. Any committed congregation is capable of making change

3. Data accelerates action 4. Educators don’t have to wait years to know if learning is making a difference

Criteria for Grants to Strengthen Network and Expand Model  Have the capacity to engage with the network  Offer a developed High Impact Model by 201314 (grants don’t support new pilots)  Be on a trajectory to reach 51% of your learners in High Impact Models by June 2014  Be able to support the model in the future

 We still have desire to reach for new ways of engaging learners.  We have worked to move beyond programmatic changes, but have not yet moved to a model for the majority of learners that is significantly different from Hebrew School.

 Our congregation benefits from being connected to other congregations working to engage learners in new ways.

New Consulting Format: •4 hrs/month of individual consulting •2 hrs every other month of peer consulting

 We have desire to reach for new ways of engaging learners. 

We are committed to implementing powerful learning and professional learning.

 We have created a model, but it is still in the nascent stage.  We are working to engage the majority of learners in the model.  Our congregation benefits from being connected to other congregations working to engage learners in new ways.


High Impact Model $2,000 Grant $4,000 Consulting Grant

Expand and intensify Your High Impact Model in 2013-2014 For grants 3-4 ONLY: Congregations who expand and intensify their High Impact Model increase: A. Frequency B. Connectivity C. Model Characteristics D. Enrollment E. New Language When imagining your innovations for 2013-2014, engaging around the following continua can be helpful. Grants 3-4 are given to congregations who are boldly moving along the continua.


Expand and intensify Your High Impact Model in 2013-2014 A. Increased Frequency of learning experiences (for families, community, etc.) Frequency refers to a model being normative and regularized.

In Summary… All Grantees will  Participate actively in the Network of Innovating Congregations  Open its doors to other congregations (teach others your innovations)  Share your successes through documentation (videos, lesson plans, etc.)  Contribute to social media resources


In Summary… Recipients of Grants 3 or 4 will  Continue to develop, expand, and deepen their model

 Reallocate funds to sustain the model beyond 2014  Document new models (teach others your innovations)  Identify outcomes for the model and assess how well those outcomes are met
