Badshah of controversies

Hyderabad, April 5: During the audio launch of the junior NTR starrer Badshah, a fan died in the stampede and there were lot of unpleasant scenes. Producer Bandla Ganesh had to appear before the court and seek bail, pay compensation to the kin of the fan’s family. The producer himself was in trouble with tax sleuths raiding his house. Ganesh, who had humble beginnings, came up big-ticket pictures is some other things. We are not speaking of the film

quality nor writing review. But the Badshah had been in the eye of storm and in m a n y controversies, which has nothing to do with the film to start. Trouble started with Jr NTR stills from Badshah appeared on a flexi banner alongside YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during the padayatra of Sharmila in Krishna district. The incident took place after Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani defected to YSRCP from TDP. He is very close to Jr NTR. Nandamuri Balakrishna had to come down to Gidivada, organize meetings and announce that he will be contesting for Assembly, hinting that it will be Gudivada. The constituency has gained importance as it covers Nimmakuru, the birth place of TDP founder President NTR.

Before Vasthunna Meekosam padayatra entered Krishna district Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with Harikrishna as well to signal that he respects the Nandamuri clan. But that did not work to the intended purpose as Sharmila got a huge response in Krishna district and the banner with Jr NTR came up. Though the persons, who put out the banner, said that they were the fans of Jr NTR and Jagan, the matter did not go well with the TDP circles. As if that is not enough, now NTR has appeared in a flexi banner at Sharmila’s padayatra. This has enraged TDP who shifted to war mode. The blame again went to an overenthusiastic fan but political circles are not satisfied with the reply. This time TDP has come into the open asking why NTR’s picture has been used. Some argue that the party, flag and power were usurped from NTR by Chandrababu Naidu and the present day TDP is not the

original one founded by NTR. All said and done, TDP cadre contend that they are the heirs of NTR and his picture appearing in the meetings of YSRCP is malicious. There was no reply on part of YSRCP. NTR and his Junior continue to hog the political limelight, polls or no polls.

SC declines immediate hearing of Bharti Airtel petition New Delhi,April 5 : The Supreme Court Friday declined to hold an immediate hearing of a Bharti Airtel petition challenging the Delhi High Court ruling resurrecting the department of telecommunications (DoT) order directing it to halt its 3G services in several circles. As senior counsels Abhishek Manu Singhvi a nd S oli S orabjee mentioned the matter before the court, the apex court bench headed by Justice R.M. Lodha said that

Bharti Airtel's plea challenging the Delhi High Court order would be listed in the mentioning list Monday. The division bench of the Delhi High Court, by its April 4 ruling, had vacated the stay of the department of telecommunications (DoT) order by its single judge bench. DoT had held illegal the roaming pact between Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, by which Bharti Airtel was providing 3G services in seven circles where it did not hold licence.

Sensex falls for 3rd day, down over 59 points at four-month low Mumbai, April 5: Extending its losing run to third day, the BSE benchmark Sensex Friday fell by over 59 points to end at a fresh fourmonth low of 18,450.23 on sustained selling by overseas funds in consumer durables, FMCG, capital goods and power shares, amid a weak global trend. Fall in ITC, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Infosys, L&T, Tata Motors and NTPC mainly weighed on the 30-share Sensex. The barometer moved erratically in a narrow range of over 135 points before ending at 18,450.23, a fall of 59.47 points or 0.32 percent. In past three days, it is down 590.72 points or 3.10 percent. "FIIs too turned sellers in the last trading sessions which further weakened sentiments. Political uncertainties along with concerns of continuing slow sales growth in many segments of economy has led the investors to adopt cautionary approach and are seen booking profits on every rally," said Rakesh Goel, Senior Vice President, Bonanza Portfolio

Limited. Global cues are also giving an uncertain scenario in near term as US data is being eyed

now, he added. The broad-based 50-issue CNX Nifty of the NSE also dipped by 21.50 points or 0.39 percent to 5,553.25. Smart rise in Maruti Suzuki, RIL and ONGC cushioned the market fall to a major extent.

Maruti Suzuki was the top gainer with a rise of 7.23 percent on the back of a weak yen which would boost margins by reducing the costs of imports. Outside benchmark indices, sugar stocks including Andhra Sugar, Balrampur Chini, Oudh Sugar Mill and Uttam Sugar saw gains in 3-20 percent range. Government partially decontrolled the sector by giving freedom to millers to sell in open market and removed their obligation to supply sugar at subsidised rate to ration shops. Meanwhile, Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 326.21 crore yesterday, as per provisional data from the stock exchanges. In Asia, indices like Hang Seng, KOSPI, Strait Times and SET Composite closed down while Nikkei and Jakarta Comp ended up. In Europe, FTSE, CAC 40 and DAX were trading 1.4-2 percent down in afternoon trade.

Government's $15 billion Rafale deal may be delayed New Delhi, April 5: India's planned deal to buy 126 fighter-jets from Dassault Aviation Sugar decontrol: How to trade stocks now? Under the initial terms of the proposed deal, Dassault was expected to provide 18 fighters in "fly-away" condition, and then let HAL manufacture the rest in India. However, Dassault now wants two separate contracts to be signed one for the ready-made ones, and another for the rest to be built by HAL, but India opposes that proposal, the defence ministry source, who is familiar with the developments, told Reuters."Dassault says HAL does not have the capacity and capability to

assemble the aircraft," said the source, who declined to be identified because he is not authorised to speak to the media. "HAL is our main public sector partner. And if needed, capacity and capabilities can be improved. But the proposal for two contracts is not agreeable to the government of India," he said. The source said the dispute would likely delay finalising the deal but not derail it. Indian defence ministry officials

had earlier expressed the hope that the deal could be finalised by July.An India-based spokeswoman for Dassault did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.Dassault has agreed to supply manufacturing kits and equipment to HAL on time, but will not play a further r o l e i n manufacturing after that, the Indian Express newspaper said.Negotiations between the

company and the government have completely stopped over the disagreement, the paper reported, without identifying its sources.A Defence Ministry spokesman did not have any immediate comment. Dassault has previously expressed doubts about the technological capability of HAL to manufacture such a sophisticated fighter jet. A HAL programme to manufacture advanced jet trainers is running years behind schedule.Rafale defeated the Eurofighter Typhoon to win the Indian government deal. The Typhoon is developed by a consortium of BAE Systems , Finmeccanica and EADS .
