Kneehill Regional Family and Community Support Services offer a number of programs and services through our office. For more information on any of the following programs, please contact our office at 403-443-3800, email or check our website Information and Referral – Kneehill Regional FCSS can offer information and referrals to local or regional resources and supports. Volunteer Week – Kneehill Regional FCSS provides volunteer recognition items and coffee break coupons to organizations who utilize volunteers. Volunteer Week 2013 is from April 21 - 27. If you are interested in participating in Volunteer Week, please contact our office. Tools for School – At the beginning of each school year, Kneehill Regional FCSS coordinates the Tools for School Program. Through generous donations, we are able to provide much needed school supplies to many children in the Kneehill area. Donations are accepted all year, and tax receipts are available. To donate or utilize the program, please call our office. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) – Kneehill Regional FCSS is in its eleventh year of coordinating the CVITP for Kneehill area residents. Community volunteers prepare income tax returns for low – income individuals and families who meet the criteria. This is a program run in partnership with Canada Revenue Agency, who provides a volunteer training session coordinated by Kneehill Regional FCSS. Volunteers are available in March and April of each year to complete returns. If you are interested in volunteering for this program or in need of assistance, please call our office. Community Discovery Nights – Community Discovery Nights are an opportunity for the community to learn more about resources and supports in their area, as well as register for local recreational programs. This year Carbon, Acme and Linden will be holding their Community Discovery Nights in March. Three Hills will hold theirs in September. Kneehill Regional FCSS and the partnering municipalities coordinate these events. Watch our website for dates and locations. Roots of Empathy (ROE) – In the ROE program, a parent and baby from the community visit a classroom over the course of a school year. A trained instructor visits with the family to guide children as they observer the relationship between the baby and its parent. The instructor also visits before and after each family visit to reinforce teachings. This program is coordinated by Kneehill Regional FCSS and is currently running in Three Hills (PCA), Trochu Valley School and Carbon Schools. To find out more about volunteering for ROE, contact our office. Grants and Funding – Kneehill Regional FCSS provides grant dollars for community based programs and services designed to enhance the social well-being of individuals, families and/or community at the earliest opportunity. For more information regarding funding, please contact Shelley at our office or by email at
