ASHLAND, MA Ashland was incorporated in 1846 known then as "Unionville". With the construction of the railway, Ashland became a bustling mill town with the boot and shoe industry flourishing. In 1916 Henry E. Warren developed the Warren Synchronizing Timer which led to the creation of the first synchronized electric clock. He then founded Telechron and partnered with GE to manufacture electric clocks until 1979. Through the years Ashland has remained a small quaint New England Town with a growing population, active recreation and strong school district.

TOWN BASICS

WELCOME On behalf of our town government and local officials, I would like to welcome you to the Town of Ashland. There are many reasons why people choose to move to Ashland. As the heart of the Metrowest Region, we have easy commuter access to both Boston and Worcester markets, but we also have an ever expanding list of employment opportunities both within our town or just across town lines. Our school system is one of the best in Massachusetts, preparing our young adults for life beyond their secondary school years. And with a thousand acres of open space, you will find a wealth of outdoor activities from hiking, to boating, to bouldering in a unique New England environment. But after a short time here I think you will find why people end up staying here; the people. The people of Ashland have created the quality of life we enjoy today, but they are also deeply engaged in maintaining that quality of life in the future. Whether at neighborhood gatherings, school functions, or one of our many community events, I know that you will agree with me on this observation. As the popularity of Ashland as a home continues to climb, I know that you will agree that moving here was the right choice. If you ever need assistance, my administration and I are here to help and I encourage you to reach out at any time.

Sincerely,. Michael Herbert.
