The UK has an abundance of Award winning producers, and Paramount 21 Ltd, based in Devon, is no exception! Paramount is renowned for creating some of the finest seafood and vegetarian speciality dishes available to the restaurant and catering industry, and has strong links with wholesalers. Based in Devon, surrounded by some of the best fishing ports and agricultural land, we are able to source the freshest fish and finest vegetables available. Where possible, we use locally sourced ingredients including West Country Brown crabmeat, West Country Sardines and Mendip Hills Grated Cheddar Cheese. Plus of course, an innovation in seafood, our West Country Whitebait Fillets which were Highly Commended at the 2009 Seafish Seafood Awards for the Best New Oily Fish product. The family run company was started in 1988 by Ali Hannaford and is now celebrating its 21st Anniversary. It is a story of triumph over the circumstances, as Ali was made redundant from her father’s firm when it was sold to a multi-national who relocated elsewhere. Aged 27, with a one year old son, Ali ploughed her redundancy money into an off-the-peg registered company name – Paramount 21 Ltd – and the business was started. Just two years in, Paramount won its first award and we have gone on to scoop many more industry commendations. The most recent was a 2009 Great Taste Gold Star for our Luxury Veggie Burgers. Now in our 21st year, by keeping things tight in the current economy, we forecast a growth of 20% during the downturn and now employ 47 staff.
