Well....By HrtwarmingOk, I will say this, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Honestly, I sorta found it boring, I found myself getting to chapter maybe 12, then going all the way to the end. Honestly, it was just boring. I wish it wasn't, I forced myself to read it and tried but then I broke. Honestly, when I got to the end, I understood everything going on.Great.Waterfall and Teardrop where the
same for me. Sigh. They had all disappointed me. However, the plot was interesting, which inclined me to add that second star, it just bored me hence the low rating. I wish it could have been as good as I thought it would be.Enjoy reading this bundle of boredom.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. They did a bad, bad, thing :)By DMSLauren Kate has crafted a completely plausible scenario in her modern day Gothic tale. It reads almost like a diary and makes an otherwise unlikeable protagonist, sympathetic to readers. Yes, Natalie Hargrove did a bad, bad, thing (cue Chris Isaak's song) -but you can't help but route for her to get away with it and succeed in her plan.Sex, drugs, revenge, murder, social political ploys, and cover-ups...this story has it all, but not in an over the top way. It is written in a calculating way that felt more like a young adult (and PG) version of Midnight in the Garden of Good Evil. There are very real emotions conveyed in the text it just takes a little time for them to surface, but once they do it is exciting. The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove is not an after school special, it is more of a literary soap opera. But I have always had a soft spot for soaps;).0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. GOOD readBy OAGOOD read A steamy Southern beauty makes one fatal mistake Natalie Hargrove would kill to be her high schools Palmetto Princess. But her boyfriend Mike King doesnt share her dream and risks losing the honor of Palmetto Prince to Natalies nemesis, Justin Balmer. So she convinces Mike to help play a prank on Justin. . . one that goes terribly wrong. They tie him to the front of the church after a partywhen they arrive the next morning, Justin is dead. From blackmail to buried desire, dark secrets to darker deeds, Natalie unravels. She never shouldve messed with fate. Fate is the one thing more twisted than Natalie Hargrove. Cruel Intentions meets Macbeth in this seductive, riveting tale of conscience and consequence. "[A] racy gothic tale...[a] deliciously twisted story." --Publishers Weekly"Lots of adjectives can be applied to this debut effort--mean, smutty, decadent--and all of them should be taken as compliments." --Booklist"This book will be enjoyed by teens who appreciate titles with irredeemably "mean girl" characters." --VOYAAbout the AuthorLauren Kate grew up in Texas in a town a lot like Palmetto. She now lives on a farm in Winters, California. The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove is her first novel.
