Australia & P.N.G Mining Resources Exhibition;

A Mining Expo With A Difference

embers of the mining and resources industry will gather over two days on June 13 and 14 at the Cairns Showgrounds in Australia for the Australia & P.N.G Mining Resources Exhibition. With the inaugural event in October 2012 attracting 125 exhibitors, organisers said numbers this year would increase and they expect 5,000 people through the gates over the two days. The Expo pairs suppliers with workers of the mining and resources industry all across Australia, with a focus on Papua New Guinea, north, central and west Queensland. Presented by Trade Show Organisers and Inflight Publishing Pty Ltd, the Expo will provide attendees with a relaxing atmosphere to discover all there is to know about the mining and resource industry. “The expo will showcase new and upgraded products as well as services relevant to the mining and resources industry,” Trade Show Organisers CEO Patrick McElligott said. “There will be both internal and external stalls and for the first time we will have a business centre on the mezzanine level where exhibitors can entertain potential clients in a relaxed atmosphere on a more personal level.” Event Manager Keryn Haynes said the Expo provided the perfect platform for suppliers of

the mining and resource industry to directly reach this niche market. “This is a chance for buyers of the mining industry from across Australia as well as PNG and beyond to shop around for essential goods and services and a fantastic opportunity for the exhibitors to meet these people and build sustainable working relations with them,” she said. “To further enhance exhibitor’s products and services to the attendees, we will only have a maximum of 200 exhibitor stands ensuring all exhibitors get maximum benefit. All the exhibitors will have new as well as tried and proven products and services on display relevant to all the industries. “And we are excited to announce some big sponsors this year including Air Niugini, Airways Hotel, Bank of South Pacific, Grand Papua Hotel, Orica, Qantaslink and Spill Station.” Cairns was chosen to host the event because of its great locality, proximity to PNG and because it made connections with the PNG and Queensland mining industry workers and suppliers easier. “This inaugural event last year boosted the Cairns economy by bringing visitors and exhibitors coming from as far away as Perth and PNG. We expect the same to happen this year,” Keryn said. “And the dates were especially chosen so

that those attending could enjoy the weekend off in fabulous North Queensland. We are hoping people will extend their stay in Cairns so we are putting on a Reef and Beef Meet and Greet on June12, an Awards Presentation Dinner at the Hilton Hotel with live entertainment and special guest speakers on June 13, and a Charity Golf Day on June 15. It’s a great way for the miners and suppliers to enjoy a hit of golf together. The golf day will support two charities, Cheshire disAbility Services PNG and Miners' Promise.” Sister companies Trade Show Organisers and Inflight Publishing Pty Ltd are no strangers to the mining industry as they produce Mining Life & Living Magazine – one of the country’s most successful mining magazines. “And after great success with our Mining Life & Living publications in Australia we are very excited to be launching a new publication Mining Life & Living PNG at the expo; a lifestyle magazine specific to miners in PNG.” The Expo will be held from 9.30am – 6pm both days and it’s free entry for attendees. Opportunities for exhibitors and sponsors are still available. Entry to the expo is free.
