TheHoochLife.com Launches Dec. 5: Prohibition Repeal Day New lifestyle publisher, The Hooch Life, launches with small- batch spirits shopping ideas, classic cocktail recipes, bar recommendations, ideas and advice from leading bartenders across the country. Denver, CO (I- Newswire) December 04, 2011 - Denver, Colorado - The Hooch Life, a lifestyle publishing start- up focused on spirits and cocktails, launches its website Monday, December 5, at www.TheHoochLife.com, and will send its readers weekly emails containing ideas about what to drink, where to drink, and how to drink. Although Prohibition Repeal Day doesn't get the recognition it deserves (banks, schools, and the U.S. Postal Service all remain curiously open on this day), it would seem to be an appropriate day to launch a website about hooch and those who like to drink it. "Our goal is to put enthusiastic drinkers in touch with two, very interesting trends that are absolutely blowing up," said co- founder, Glenn Morey. "First, the emergence of small- batch craft spirits from the U.S. and all over the world, and second, the resurgence of time- tested cocktails that are so good they're called classics." Issue #1 of The Hooch Life will be about what Morey calls "The American Craft Spirits Movement," and will be introduced with a piece by Senior Contributing Editor, Marshall Altier, as he provides his perspectives as an author, long- time barman, U.S. Bartenders' Guild leader, and international consultant. Staff members at The Hooch Life insist, however, that they are not creating a site for "connoisseurs" or "aficionados." They are targeting general consumers who are ready for a change- up and delicious upgrades from their rums and cokes, margaritas, and dirty martinis. Editorial content will feature classic cocktail recipes and fun twists on the classics, as well as new and different, small- batch distilleries to explore. "Wine, beer, and food have all been part of major trends toward local sourcing, sustainable and organic practices, and craft or small producers," said Krista Nicholson, Product Strategy leader. "Now people are looking for the same kinds of ideas and products when it comes to spirits," added Hannah Johnson, Managing and Assignments Editor. "We're delivering those ideas in partnership with our national network of writers, photographers, and leading bartenders from the very best bars in America." Over time, The Hooch Life plans to expand to events, film, videos, and books. But for now, its readers will have to be content with oncea- week- emails with the kinds of fun drinking ideas consumers can put to use at 5 p.m. that same day, if not sooner.
