We were asked to intervene in the area surrounding and including the Norman Foster CDMX Airport project. This area which is now in disuse had many complexities due to its historic background. We, as a team, faced the ecology and water issues by creating a system of wetlands to reduce water salinity and trying to recuperate the bird wildlife. We aimed to create an urban park bearing in mind the social aspects of the harsh neighborhoods closest to the site. The urban park brought with it the sense of immersion or re-immersion, into the water from the original Texcoco lake, into the natural ecology and wildlife and into the culture of Mexico which is so connected to the previous two. We were approached by the Bustarviejo Community in Madrid to intervene in their urban planning. Bustarviejo is an area with a National Park very near to it so we first had to analyze every aspect of the site. We studied amongst other things, the types of rocks, the vegetation, the flow of water as well as the wind. After understanding all of these factors and examining the urban area, we had interviews with the locals. From there we were able to create different interventions and solutions to the town of Bustarviejo. Team members: Ana Sebastia Puig, Marta Del Pozo Alonso, Patricia Salido and Inés María González

Students were asked to propose a palace in Chandigarh, India. After studying Le Corbusier’s vision for the city and his intervention in the Capitol Complex, a semi-buried building was created to complete said complex. This task came with the complications of its social context as well as the scale of the previous monumental architecture.

INDIA: The second project was to create a living space in the sacred city of Manikarnika, without interfering with the strong spirituality and history of the area, but at the same time with enough space and utilities needed for this very particular type of user. By traveling to the area we were able to understand truly the type of intervention needed. SPRING 2018. STUDIO III ETSAM Alberto Morell/ Eduardo Perez

The aim of the project is to make a graphic and visual analysis of the drawings of Yakov Chernikhov, treating them as if they were actual buildings and not only utopic representations. The analysis addresses issues like materiality, form, growth possibilities, program or organization.

During studio I and studio II I worked in a group called Grupo 4!, this class, worked in a special dynamic. Firstly, all of our project development and all of our plans were by hand and secondly, we were encouraged to work weekly on models. The creation process of the models and working with different ideas and was an important part of these classes. In this class we developed a better understanding of the process needed for a good project and the importance of hand drawing to the architectural process.
