This is where coaches and players will start the feeling out process to get an idea of what is to come. Believe it or not, this is a very critical time in the NFL season and goes a long way in determining the rosters depth charts.

be getting any better. ESPN.com noted that he was participating in 7 on 7 field activity but was sat when it came to 11 on 11 drills. This puts Lawrence starting role for the preseason in doubt and could lead to them relying on someone else for now.

And for a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars, who nabbed first round pick, Trevor Lawrence, in the draft, it is a very critical period that could set the tone for the entire season. Not only is that evident by Lawrence needing time to learn the ropes, but also due to new head coach, Urban Meyer needing to learn the ins and outs of his new team.

“Our trainers and Schotty [passing game coordinator Brian Schottenheimer] are being a little cautious because right now when you’re a month out, you yank a hamstring now you’re going to miss the early part of the training camp,” Meyer said in a statement to the media regarding Lawrence being benched again due to injury.

Furthermore, Lawrence has been in and out of team activities due to a tightening of his hamstring, which doesn’t seem to

Sure, he doesn’t really have a choice due to how popular of a player Tebow is, but this allows him to stay out of the spotlight. Hopefully, that will relieve the pressure on him and allow the young to recover before the season starts. Speaking of Tebow, it’s no secret that he is trying to make the 53-man roster as a tight end, creating a sort of make-or-break moment for him. Tebow will also have to

deal with a relentless media storm that almost seems hell bent on picking him apart and dissecting every single move he makes. That has proven to be a distraction for some teams in the past and could result in Jacksonville cutting Tebow relatively quickly.

“Oh, Tim has done a decent job. We all know this is a new position for him,” Meyer said, per said John Reid of Florida Tribune “He is a great teammate. In the locker room, I can see everybody getting along, we have good chemistry on our team. But he’s picked it up decently.”

This sadly makes Tebow’s road to the roster a very difficult one, but he will have help. Urban Meyer, who helped Tebow to a NCAA football championship in 2006 is the new head coach in Jacksonville, making for a powerful reunion. Whether Jacksonville will be able to utilize this unique pairing and work Tebow into the mix remains to be seen, but it will be worth a watch for longtime Gator fans.

If nothing else, the Jaguars are a team to watch due to all the storylines playing out right now. Keep in mind that Jacksonville is very much a team in transition, which should make for some interesting moments throughout training camp. It will also be enticing to see how the Jaguars deal with Lawrence’s nagging injuries, or if he is even the starter at the beginning of the season. Another team to look out for is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are fresh off a Super Bowl victory with Tom Brady and looking to repeat. The never-ending circus that is the Tom Brady show will be fun to critique as he works with different receivers to see who he can rely on.

What people are also going to want to watch out for though is the Buccaneers depth at the running back position heading into 2021. They already have Ronald Jones III and Leonard Fournette, who are the likely starters for the upcoming season and added Giovani Bernard during the offseason. They also now have Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who will probably

account for some touches as well. “It’s a hell of a group,” said Arians, starting his thoughts with Jones and Fournette. “Both those guys are starters in my mind. Whoever goes out first doesn’t really matter to me. But that will be determined in camp “Ke’Shawn’s made a nice move but he has to be a better special teams players right now because of what’s in front of him, But I have all the confidence in the world in him as a runner and a receiver. And Gio has added a nice presence back there.” Of course, someone is going to come out of this deal with a few less touches every game, but it is worth it to have so much depth at a position like this. At the very least, it allows for all four running backs to rest up, gives the team a chance to score whenever they have the ball and could end up being critical in third down situations. It might also be worth watching what kind of trick plays these three running backs are involved in. In fact, with their various speeds, and Brady’s clutch throwing abilities, the players could become a sort of triple threat as the season moves on. If nothing else, the possibilities are endless with these three and Brady only makes this even more interesting. In the end, it all comes down to how the Buccaneers improve on last season and that’s going to be hard to do with everything they accomplished. Seriously though, how do they improve on what they pulled off last season? That’s what makes the Buccaneers worth watching this season though. It’s the uncertainty tied around how they are eventually going to fair against competition. Isn’t that the only justifi cation you need to watch?

When it comes to the topic of plastic surgery, everyone’s got a dozen opinions about whether it’s good or bad, but in today’s highly visual world, it can be argued that plastic surgery can be important to not only improve how you look according to your own standards, but how you feel about yourself as well. If it boosts your selfconfidence, why not go for plastic surgery?

Plastic surgery is becoming more commonplace in the US, even if some people still feel shy about sharing what they’ve gotten done and for how much. Luckily, data from the Aesthetic Neural Network (ANN), shows that plastic surgery was indeed still important and even grew throughout COVID-19. The most popular plastic surgical procedures for women were liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tucks, breast implants (including removal and replacement), as well as breast lifts. While plastic surgery is usually considered important only to women, data suggests that both women and men want to look and feel good about themselves. It shouldn’t come as a surprise then that men’s top surgical procedures include liposuction and tummy tucks as well, in addition to gynecomastia to deal with what’s commonly known as “man boobs,” blepharoplasty or the fixing of droopy

eyelids, and rhinoplasty or nose surgeries. The importance of plastic surgery can’t be stressed enough given modern society’s obsession with youth and all that it entails: plump, smooth, glowing skin, gravitydefying facial features and body parts, and a lean body. Plastic surgery can be integral in the quest to look your best. Just as people believe that you should, “dress for the job you want,” plastic surgery can be the confidence booster that you need as a man or woman. Perhaps you feel insecure going on first dates or even approaching people for first dates. Maybe you’re not even comfortable in a swimsuit or wearing form-fitting clothing. While not inexpensive, plastic surgery can help alleviate feelings of anxiety, insecurity, and self-depreciation that often holds us back from living our best lives. Many reputable and skilled plastic surgeons now offer payment plans to make plastic surgery accessible to prospective patients who believe that self-care can include going under the knife. It’s true that beauty is only skin deep, but it’s also true that we only get to make a first impression once and that first impression is with our looks. All too often, even though it’s not politically correct, we make an initial judgment with just a glance. Make it an impactful one.

Swiss craftsmanship is world-renowned. Engineers and craftsmen from every pocket of the world are familiar with the Swiss’ rich tradition of pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into their creations. In particular, the Swiss have a reputation for making and preserving the world’s finest timepieces, watches, and clocks. It’s a claim very few – if any – others can make. Purnell, with their Escape II Absolute Sapphire, have put an exclamation point on that claim.

They expertly combine sophistication and functionality with something they do better than just about anybody else: emptiness. The company is aware of just how visually stunning and eye-catching their design language is, and they prominently feature it in their adverts. Purnell, in describing the Escape II Absolute Sapphire, have used terms like “The art of emptiness” and “Transparency in its purest form.”

Those terms perfectly encapsulate what the Escape II Absolute Sapphire pulls off, but our favorite tagline that we think does an even better job of hitting the nail on the head is Purnell’s claim that “What you don’t see here is what matters.” They couldn’t be more right! The reason there’s so much buzz about emptiness here is simple: This time piece boasts a dial, power reserve, hour gear train, dial bridges, and a case made from transparent sapphire! The band is even translucent, giving a decidedly “ghost-like” appearance to the watch. These design choices give the watch an inimitable sense of spaciness and, in a sense, an almost otherworldly, futuristic feeling that somehow manages to pull off a sci-fi feel without sacrificing a single iota of sophistication.

But Purnell’s watch isn’t just a looker; it can lay claim to some serious performance metrics, too. – which are required because the intense machining process consumes about 80% of a given piece of material’s original mass – are grown at temperatures of 2,050° Celsius. Sapphire can resist temperatures of up to 1,000° Celsius and is virtually scratch proof to all known materials save for diamond, so these insane working temperatures are a matter of course. Purnell uses the purest oxide aluminum crystals in their machining processes. The polishing process is similarly thorough, bringing the final product to an exceptionally fine diamond granulometry grade. Taken together, each piece receives over 150 hours of bespoke hand craftsmanship time. That number jumps considerably higher when you factor in development of other parts, machine programming, and the growth of the sapphires. Dr. Bryan Forley

I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Bryan Forley who is one of the top plastic surgeons in Manhattan and one of the few doctors leading the industry with non-invasive technology. Dr. Forley is a surgeon who truly cares for his patients and wants the results to be natural looking and will refuse anything but that. His work is of an artist and is known by his patients as being a true perfectionist and after having the pleasure of interviewing him, I totally understand why. I look forward to sharing all the up-to-date technologies and to continue to share more interviews with Dr. Forley. AF: Can you share your background with us? Dr. Forley: I am a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and have specialized in aesthetic surgery of the face, eyes, nose, breast, and body since opening my practice in Manhattan in 1994. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in Bio-Medical Ethics, I attended the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. My general surgery prerequisite training was undertaken at NYU Medical Center and Mount Sinai. I relocated to California to complete my training in plastic surgery at the Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. I pursued additional fellowship training in both aesthetic surgery and craniofacial surgery in California and London before starting my private practice in New York.

My hospital affiliations are with the Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, and Mount Sinai West. I also am a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. AF: Let’s get into your day to day. How many procedures do you do per day? Dr. Forley: Each day is different as I have a mix of surgical and non-surgical options. I am very meticulous in my surgical technique so I never book more than 1 or 2 patients per day. The nonsurgical

procedures are less time consuming so we usually mix injectables with energy skin tightening devices and lasers. Consultations with new patients and seeing follow-up patients makes for a very full day. AF: I know many people come into your offi ce with photos wanting to look like a specifi c celebrity. How personalized is plastic surgery? Dr. Forley: Plastic surgery is very specific and personalized. The idea that you can alter the underlying anatomy and basic characteristics of your face and body to match those of a celebrity is often misunderstood. Photos or examples of a desired result can give the surgeon guidance as to the aesthetic goals of the patient. The underlying anatomic characteristics of each individual will be the determining factor in how well those goals can be achieved. AF: Are you usually able to talk a patient out of a specifi c procedure or is it diffi cult? Dr. Forley: I won’t do a procedure that a patient may request if I don’t believe it is in their best interests. I spend time explaining my reasons and most patients will accept my judgment but I’m sure some will keep looking until they find someone who agrees to do what they want. Sometimes they come back to me later and ask me to fix the problem that resulted from the procedure they had done. AF: What are some of the latest technologies you’re working with that are minimally invasive. Dr. Forley: The current generation of radiofrequency energy devices such as FaceTite, Bodytite, and Morpheus8 have enabled us to offer minimally invasive procedures for skin tightening and lifting with no scars and minimal downtime. This has provided a meaningful alternative to surgery for many patients. AF: Do you fi nd more people are turning toward or against plastic surgery i.e., facelifts?

Dr. Forley: I think the advent of effective non-surgical skin tightening and lifting procedures has enabled us to offer antiaging benefits to a broader range of patients that I might have previously told to come back and see me in a few years for surgery. I think the indications for a surgical approach have narrowed but it still remains the gold standard for treating advanced signs of facial aging. AF: When do you let a patient know that they’ve had enough non-invasive procedures and fi llers and time for a facelift? Dr. Forley: I explain to patients that noninvasive and minimally invasive procedures are wonderful techniques for improving aging changes up to a point. When these procedures are used for more advanced signs of aging, they are frequently overdone and can result in an unnatural appearance or the perceived benefits are limited with less-than-optimal results. As a plastic surgeon, I have all treatment options available to my patients so they know that I can offer them the best choice to meet their needs. AF: Will facelifts have the same outcome after the results of the other procedures have went away? Dr. Forley: Facelifts are quantitative procedures that lift and tighten the sagging tissues of the face and neck while removing redundant skin and restoring youthful facial contours. If someone had a non-surgical procedure prior to the surgery, the surgeon will take that into account when planning the facelift. AF: Any advice for the younger generation who are self-conscience about their skin? Dr. Forley: Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen. Lifestyle choices are not without consequences and eventually we see the outcome of choices we made in our 20’s and 30’s in the aging changes and skin cancers that occur later in life. Prevention is always better than treatment.

Taylor Edward Written by Taylor Edwards Standing at a staggering 5’10, Taylor Edwards is one of America’s most beautiful plus size model.

AF: Who has been your hardest critic? What did you learn from that person?

Like most women in the country, she was not born skinny. Weighing over 200 pounds and wearing a size 14, she managed to conquer her self-esteem issues after childbirth. She lost close to 100 pounds postpartum. That was the turning point in her life. She took the idea of getting into the modeling industry and made it a reality. No longer ashamed of her size, she started using her pretty face, amazing smile and curvy physique to be an inspiration to mothers who are looking to showcase their talents during their motherhood years. Taylor Edwards has hundreds of photo shoots to her credit and she’s currently in high demand.

TE: I have always been my hardest critic. Although my inner voice is a big part of what keeps pushing me to achieve more, it can also be debilitating. I have had to learn to quiet my own negative talk and refuse to allow my insecurities to hold me back. Every time I push through them and achieve despite of them, I am reminded of my true power.

The soccer mom and Psychology degree major sat down with Industry Rules to discuss her career and life during COVID-19. AF: How have you been under the world’s COVID-19 pandemic? TE: I cannot complain. This past year has been scary and uncharted territory. Unlike many, I have been blessed with my health and my family’s health. I am grateful for the additional quality time my family and I have had together. There was an enormous amount of anxiety in the beginning of the pandemic; about how things would affect us. We had to make a lot of adjustments. In the end, it all worked out.

AF: Can you list some highlights of your career? TE: I just keep setting goals. Most of the time, I’m already onto the next goal before I realize I’ve already hit the previous one. I tend to just keep trekking. I focus on the tasks ahead of me while trying to stay as positive as possible. Every now and then I stop to take a breath and realize just how far I’ve come. Those moments of quiet selfrecognition and realization, of what I am capable of, are the biggest highlights of them all. AF: What are some of things you’ve learned while being a model? TE: Like anything in life, I am always growing and learning. There are so many different facets to this career. Experience is really the only way that anyone can learn these things. Modeling consists of more than I ever imagined. These last 12 years have opened my eyes to a lot. I look forward to what the next 12 have to teach me. When I was younger, there was this idea of the perfect body. The perfect beauty. The model look. But, today, it’s our imperfections that sometimes land a job opportunity. The little things that set us apart from the rest. That make us memorable.

After many years of devoted education to pursue their purpose in the medical industry, they previously worked for private practices. With their learned experiences, doctoral degrees, and savvy business acumen, the two doctors now run their own practice, The Youth Fountain. Established in 2013, it’s now one of the top cosmetic and wellness practices in the tristate area. The two doctors sat down with Industry Rules to discuss their careers and private practice: VC: Did you always want to be a doctor? Dr. Emil: I always knew I wanted to practice in the medical field. I started my general surgery residency in 2004 and did a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery in 2009. I underwent specialty training in Aesthetics at Empire Medical Training in 2013. I also trained at American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) in 2013 and 2014. My education did not end there. I furthered my training in 2018 at the 10th annual Hair Transplant 360 at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Rada: Like my husband, I always knew I wanted to be a doctor. My love for medicine started when I was twelve years old. I knew it was a vehicle that could help people. It’s a great opportunity to be a difference maker in people’s lives. So, I decided to pursue the medical industry. It’s been a great journey!

It has certainly been implemented at my own practice. The Youth Fountain centers around the patient. That is both my practice and my personal core belief. Dr. Rada: During my years of studies, I was faced with certain challenges. There were some doubts when I was processing for the gastrology program. It was a very competitive program, but I was accepted. My tenacity and hard work paid off. Joining The Youth Fountain in 2015 was a great career moment. We now have the ability to help others directly and managed care more affectively. Seeing a patient walk in our office and leave happy is priceless. I enjoy walking a patient through the process of not only just reshaping their bodies but reshaping their lives as well. Teaming up with my husband in 2015 changed everything. VC: What sets you apart in your industry? Dr. Rada: The Youth Fountain is focused on enhancing beauty and wellness. The nonsurgical weight loss system is something that I value and one of the key elements in our practice. The goal is to rejuvenate and help people enhance their natural beauty. We take pride in helping others feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.

VC: What are some of the highlights of your career?

VC: What advice would you give someone who’s thinking of pursuing a medical career or business?

Dr. Emil: Creating my own practice has been the highlight of my career. To be able

VC: How was the global COVID-19 pandemic for you? Dr. Rada: COVID-19 forced us to close the practice for two and a half months. As an independent practice, no work equals no revenue. It was certainly a challenge. The pandemic also brought the family closer together. It allowed for more quality time. Being with my family during this crisis, was huge. It only made our family stronger.

The TWA Hotel’s design ultimately pays homage to the TWA terminal’s former reputation as a glamorous symbol of the Jet Age. It was a hub of sophisticated individuals who traveled; one of the ultimate places to be. Thus, it came as no surprise that it became a New York City landmark in 1994. Once it finally closed in 2001, in 2005, it earned further accolades as it was listed on the National and New York State Registers of Historic Places.

And as tired as we are of reading the same old motivational quotes on Instagram, men like Chef Wenford P. Simpson are a reminder of why those quotes exist in the first place. He is the embodiment of social media’s favorite cliché: speaking it into existence. From a young boy, even while growing up in poverty, Chef Simpson knew he would be a great chef. It began as a sweet idea. He and his family never had enough food at home, so he figured as a chef he would never go hungry. Nevertheless, filling his stomach was not Mr. Simpson’s only goal. He had a vision of a prodigious empire, that he worked relentlessly to manifest. Years later with the opening of his new restaurant, The Simpson; Chef Simpson is once again proving how powerful it is to walk in faith. Even in the middle of what felt like the apocalypse of COVID-19, he believed in The Simpson and knew it would be a success. Located right across from Barclays, it is a bonafide hit. All due to Chef Simpson “putting in the work” as he so perfectly puts it. From fixing a tile in the kitchen to sending out his “thinking out loud” e-mails to his staff, he takes pleasure in what needs to be done. His passion radiates all throughout the restaurant and was definitely felt as Industry Rules sat down once again with the great Chef.

RA: What was the fi rst meal you prepared as a boy that made you realize you were meant to be a Chef? WS: I think the first meal that I put together was the one where I made a mistake. I was trying to do a cabbage dish, and curry accidentally fell on the cabbage. I couldn’t wash it out, so I continued to cook it. From that mistake instead of feeling bad about my sister and her friends laughing at me, I decided that I was going to show them that I can cook and that one day I would be a great chef. From there, I started perfecting my skills. I was always whipping stuff up together. Trying to put things together that don’t normally go together and seeing how I can tweak the flavor. Because I came from poverty; I always try to remember that even when I think there’s no food at home, I have to look around and see what I can create from what’s available. Like let’s say I find a can of beans; then I find some rice. There’s an onion, maybe a scallion, and then I find a thyme. So, I’m like okay, I’ll make a seasoned rice for dinner. So, it’s that way of thinking out the box that made me say “you know what I’m going to stick to this career.” I think also because there was never food at home, I thought if I’m a chef I’ll always be in the kitchen and there’s always food in the kitchen! up. I tell them when they’ve messed up and push them to own it and help to fix it. RA: What advice would you give to a young man or woman who aspires to be a chef?

RA: Do you feel the creative aspect of cooking is your favorite part? WS: Yes, because even when guests come into the Simpson, they’ll say “mmmhh, there’s something different about this.” or they’re like “Chef, why am I eating macaroni and cheese but I’m tasting mango?” I think people gravitate to my style of cooking because I put a little twist to everything I’m cooking. RA: When in your career did you decide you wanted to have your own restaurant? WS: Around the time I was 14, my food and nutrition teacher would go around and ask everyone what they want to be when they grow up, and I said I want to be a very great Chef that is well known. I’m going to have a big, beautiful house and I’m going to have a wonderful big restaurant. So, I think it was engraved in my brain from then, that one day I was going to open my own restaurant and not just one, multiple restaurants. RA: What would you say sets The Simpson apart from other restaurants?

WS: I take pleasure in doing this. Once I come through those restaurant doors, if I’m just fixing a light switch, it’s the same feeling for me as cooking because it’s a part of the restaurant. It’s a part of me delivering that package to you. Also, I’m a people person. I come out to my tables and interact with my guests. I tell them thank you for coming, thank you for the love and support. I fist pump each person at the table; even if it’s a little baby, I get my fist pump. People love that I’m so engaging. They feel that sense of kindness, that sense of humility. RA: You’ve worked as a corporate executive chef for BB Kings. You started your own line of jerk seasoning and opened The Simpson. You essentially have stepped into many leadership roles. What do you think makes you a great leader? WS:I think it’s because I’m a perfectionist. I always motivate and push my team to strive for perfection. As a leader people tend to come to me for answers, and I always try to explain things to them by seeing it from the other side. I know how to tear my staff down and build them back

WS: Love what you do, be passionate about what you do. You wake up: eat, breathe, sleep whatever you’re passionate about. If you’re passionate about being a great chef, make your life about that. I should not take your phone and ask to see your Instagram and see nothing about being a chef on it. A person who wants to be a chef and is passionate about it will take a picture of a grilled cheese sandwich they made for breakfast. You have to stay motivated, stay driven, be your number one cheerleader. Never give up, no matter what, even if you’re just peeling potatoes. When I started working on a cruise ship they put me in the potato room, and then from the potato room I’m in the dishwasher room. The problem with this generation is they want microwave careers. They see you now but didn’t see you 25 years ago. They see me now, pull up outside in a Bentley, and walk into my restaurant; but they didn’t see when I was hiding around on the hotel property trying to find a place to sleep when I was 22. Everything you’re doing now is a part of the journey.

RA: Who cooks for you?! WS: I have to go into my kitchen and beg them for something! They don’t care about me. I’ll go in there and I’m like “guys can you make me something to eat”, and they’re like “Chef the rice is over there, and the plates are right there. We’re busy.” RA: What else besides cooking do you do for fun? WS: I like to go on vacation. I like to be a daredevil; I recently went skydiving. They had to drag me out of the plane, I was scared!! They tell you your body is going to go into shock and you’re going to tense up, but you have to tell your mind to release. After I jumped, my eyes were closed and I kept thinking, okay release. When he opened the parachute, it was one of the most peaceful things coming down. We were having a conversation coming down, you would think we were hanging out at a club.

RA: You’ve cooked for a lot of big names. Was there anyone you were asked to cook for that you got nervous about? WS: Barack and Michelle Obama! This was when I was an executive chef at B.B Kings, which owns Sony Hall in Washington D.C. At the second inauguration, they reached out to me and said Barack Obama is going to be at the Howard theater. Before I even met them, I was in the kitchen cooking and I’m like “I’m in the same building as Barack Obama!”

CAULIFLOWER STEAK with ROMESCO SAUCE and CHARRED SCALLIONS

2-4 servings

This is my version of a vegetarian steak night. I love taking large cuts of vegetables and cooking them with meat-type preparations and big robust flavors. The Romesco freezes well and makes a meal out of any vegetable or meat in a flash. For the Romesco Sauce — Olive oil — 4 large plum tomatoes, — 5 garlic cloves — 1/2 cup Marcona almonds — 2 jarred roasted red bell peppers, drained and roughly chopped — 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar — 1 teaspoon smoked Spanish paprika or pimentón — Salt — 3 scallions, ends trimmed

For the Caulifl ower Steak — 1 (1-inch thick) slice cauliflower

For the Romesco Sauce Adjust an oven rack to middle position and preheat the oven to 400°F degrees. Arrange the tomatoes in an ovenproof pan (I like to use a pie tin) and rub them with oil. Place the garlic on a piece of foil, drizzle them with oil, wrap them with the foil, and set them in the pan with the tomatoes. Roast the tomatoes for about 45 minutes or until the tomato is nicely charred.

Transfer the pan to a cooling rack, and when cool enough to handle, carefully peel and discard the skins from the tomatoes. Unwrap the garlic and pop the out of their skins. Place the tomatoes, garlic, almonds, peppers, vinegar, paprika , and a good pinch of salt in a blender and puree until almost smooth scraping down the sides as necessary (I like mine a little chunkier). Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a medium cast iron skillet over medium-high until shimmering. Add the cauliflower and season with salt. .. Place another pan on top to help keep the cauliflower pressed down in the pan. Cook about 3 minutes per side, until slightly charred at the eges. Pop the pan into the oven and cook about 8 more minutes or until tender, flipping the steak halfway through. Remove the steaks from the pan and set aside. Coat the scallion in just enough olive oil to coat. Carefully set the iron skillet on the range over medium high heat and char the scallions for about 3 minutes per side. To serve, place a good amount of Romesco sauce on a plate. Top with the scallions, then set the steak on top.

Chop Secret: Canned plum tomatoes works in a pinch but skip the roasting step if using them. To prep a cauliflower “steak” simply trim off and discard the base leaves, then, carefully cut the cauliflower into 1 inchthick slices. Depending on the size, you can get 2 to 3 steaks from the center of the cauliflower.

Millions of people deal with seasonal allergies every year. We have all the pollen in the air to thank for that. Would we trade in all the beautiful pollengenerating flowers and trees to get rid of allergies? Probably not. Looking forward to summer doesn’t have to mean dealing with all the miserable sneezing and congestion though. You just need some solid strategies to keep your allergies under control. Steer Clear of Pesky Allergy Triggers Allergies can easily be triggered by wind, so when it’s windy and the pollen is everywhere, try to stay indoors with the windows closed. Mowing the lawn also gets the pollen moving around. Avoid doing that chore or being around when someone else is doing it. Another chore that’s best to avoid if you’re prone to hay fever is gardening. Lastly, opt for using the dryer instead of hanging your laundry outside to keep pollen off your clothes, towels, and sheets. Pay Attention to Pollen Counts Local weather forecasts on TV, in the newspaper, or online can help you track the current and upcoming pollen levels. Pay attention to those things. If you see the pollen count is going to be high, use the preventative measure of taking allergy medicine before symptoms even begin. On days with a lot of pollen, it’s also wise to keep the windows closed and stay indoors as much as possible.

Keep Your Sinuses Rinsed If allergy symptoms are particularly bad, try a nasal rinse. Flushing all that mucus and bacteria from your nose can help relieve congestion, a runny nose, and sneezing. Most pharmacies carry ready-made rinse kits. Otherwise, you can make your own using a neti pot, a device specifically designed for sinus rinsing. To make the rinse solution, first mix three teaspoons of iodide-free salt with one teaspoon of baking soda. Store this mixture in an airtight container or Ziplock bag. When you’re ready to rinse, combine one teaspoon of the mixture with eight ounces of water that is either distilled or has already been boiled and cooled. Finally, you can use the saline solution to rinse out your nostrils one at a time. Up Your Water Intake If you have allergies, stay extra-hydrated. Drinking lots of water can help thin out the mucus in your nasal passages, in turn alleviating your annoying allergy symptoms. It doesn’t have to be just water either. Things like tea, broth, or natural juices can also be very hydrating. Staying hydrated is not only a solution to allergies that have already taken over your day. It can also be preventative. Drinking plenty of water at all times can keep allergies from getting so bad in the first place.
