earable technology refers to any technological device designed to be worn by a consumer. Many of these devices focus on health tracking. Other devices aim to serve medical needs, to enhance one’s physical performance, or to alter an individual’s reality. The spectrum of wearable technology is too wide to fathom. As wearable technology continues to penetrate the world of retail, we will see more and more rands exploring ways to expand
their lines to accomodate the customer who wants it. Whether we realize it or not, we are all gradually adopting wearable technology. Almost everyone has a Fitbit or an Apple iWatch. Soon, fashion will begin to see a major shift. Designers are currently working on ways to incorporate the technological capabillities into clothing in the most discrete and fashionable manner possible. The wearable technology market is predicted to increase from thirty billion dollars to one hundred sixty billion dollars within the next decade. 2
