AMWA - Indiana Chapter Newsletter October 4, 2005

Plan to Attend the AMWA Indiana Chapter Meeting at the School of Informatics, IUPUI Tuesday, October 11, 2005 Medical multimedia creator, Albert William, will show us what Informatics is and demonstrate some of his medical multimedia programs at the AMWA Indiana Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at the IU School of Informatics, IUPUI. The meeting agenda and logistics information are provided below.

Our Presenter: Mr. William received the 2003 Silicon Graphics Inc. Award for excellence in computational sciences and visualization at Indiana University. Prior to accepting an academic position, Albert worked for 12 years at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Currently Mr. William is a Visiting Research Associate in the New Media Program, specializing in 3-dimensional design and animation of scientific and medical content, and is currently teaching a Digital Imaging Seminar. His research interests include medical and scientific visualization, 3-D graphics and animation, stereoscopic rendering, and interactive learning tools. In, 2002, Mr. William completed his MS in Media Arts and Science from Indiana University School of Informatics New Media Program. His undergraduate degree is from Bowling Green State University. Among his creations is “The Cell – A Virtual Tour,” an interactive, multimedia CD/ROM learning aid in cellular biology, which uses state of the art 3-D animation and interactive content to deliver complex subject matter in a user-friendly environment. Mr. William was involved in creating music and images for the Chichen Itza and Uxmal virtual tours. He also created “Genomics,” an informative 3-D animation for the IU School of Medicine, and “The Neuron,” is included in the Indiana State Museum’s “Tomorrow’s Indiana” exhibit. Logistics: The IU School of Informatics is at IUPUI, 535 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis. Park in Guest metered parking, located in Lot #85, adjacent to the Law School. You can access a parking map at From Lot #85, go to Room IT 497 in the Informatics Complex on the corner of West & and Michigan. Food and beverage will be provided.
