THE WILD SIDE

Just to the North of Harbour Island lies a small, uninhabited island with a slice of golden deserted beach and a heart of swaying palm trees.

Over the years, we have swum, sailed and boated out to this piece of land and spent lazy afternoons walking from one side to the other. If you catch the tide just right, you can find perfectly sized stones, fashioned over time by the movement of the waves, lying invitingly, ready to be skimmed out across the ocean.

When my three boys were young, long before the arrival of their pesky sister, we would picnic here and chase each other through the wild grass, disturbing sunbathing snakes and the surprised sandpiper birds, who would scuttle off into the sky often leaving behind a feather or two in their haste. We would tiptoe across the ragged rocks, hide in the caves and let our imaginations run wild. Once Amory’s imagination ran so wild, he was sure he had spotted a leopard sleeping by the shore.

We slightly lost our minds and invited 30 women to collectively design one bag. You may imagine how many dazzling ideas were offered up by these accomplished Ambassadors. We wanted to create a bag TOGETHER that could make us feel luckier than any stroke of fortune.

Named the Five-O, because it marked a certain birthday. It’s got all the IH signatures – you can wear it three ways, it’s lined with our good luck beetle and there is a spirited touch of rock n’ roll about it. The names of those who touched this beauty are immortalized on the dust cover. The date of its creation is engraved inside. It’s all those big ideas in one bag.

The one swatch that our rather large group of Five-O designers could not stop touching was the leopard printed Italian leather. We had to find a way to have a bit more of it in our collection. Behold the belt of this – and every other season.
