Halloween At Stone Rose

S o c he c k i t, th i s y ea r fo r Halloween us Hampton Daze ladies dressed up as the cast of Clueless. I was Cher, Josie was Dionne, and Mel was Ty. We’re best friends because we all know what it’s like for people to be jealous of us. We decided to make a cameo at the Stone Rose Fashionista Ball in NYC at the Time Warner Building, Hampton Daze was sponsoring. The event was hosted by Hillary Flowers and Toni Russo of Boutique Artists and Models and included a fashion show by Hillary Flowers. The costumes at Stone Rose were amazing, and the room was filled with Betty's just like us. Such a fun Halloween party! ‘Til next time homies, keep rolling. ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) If your creative energy is feeling a little blocked these days, the challenge becomes finding ways to break free and move to the next level. Do this by paying attention to the things you are moved to do and catching the wave of energy while you are feeling it. If you wake up and want to paint the wall chartreuse, then go ahead and paint! Following your energy will bring you to more creative solutions within any situation.

GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) Time to find your sense of humor again. Look around and see the quirks of others and then look in the mirror and see your own quirks. We are a funny lot, us humans, and we have to get better at laughing at ourselves. Humor will take you far, so do your best to stay light and look for the funny in situations. CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Wait for clarity. Allow the energy to keep moving and allow your moods to keep moving so the clarity can come. If you are feeling too much emotion, it is a sure sign that you need to step away and wait for clarity. A clear mind will show you the better choices. Don’t allow your emotions to override that clarity. (As best as you can!) LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) Big apologies to all you Leo’s for missing last week, it wasn’t personal, just a computer glitch. This week is all about following your passion and all that moves you. Look around for what ‘feels’ right, look to the things that satisfy you and then take action. Being moved is a good enough reason to do a thing. There should be lots of good and blessed feelings around for you to jump on, so make sure you jump. Taking action on what satisfies is satisfaction. VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) Time for lots of communicating. This is a magical time and all the magic will be birthed through your words and your actions and all that you do to communicate to those around you. Remember that magic happens and don’t get distracted by how things appear to be in any one moment in time, just keep moving forward, talking and talking as you go. LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) When in doubt, or when in a funk, use your body. There is a bit too much energy moving around Libra right now and it will be easy for it to get stuck and using your body is one way to keep the energy flowing. Go for a walk or do something fun and energetic in the garden; just keep your body moving as you allow this energy to pass. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) This week’s challenge will be to keep your head and your words in a good place. Not the time to get lost in the sorrows of the past, or to reference the sad stories from back there. Wounds need to heal and the way to do that is to keep yourself, your language, your stories, all of your energy in the present and moving forward. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) It is all about truth; the fullest expression of the truth that you can come up with. Make sure you are telling ‘all’ of a story and that you are expressing ‘all’ of yourself in any situation. People only seem to know parts of us

TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) You are strong enough to handle all that is going on. Things may feel big and difficult to manage right now, yet you do have the strength to deal with it all. Take things one step at a time and take whatever alone time you need to tap in to the cosmic second wind that is available. You are the reason the phrase ‘strong like bull’ exists!

Openings/Talks Today’s Birthday: Burt Lancaster, 1913 Burt Lancaster, one of America’s most successful actors, grew up in a tough New York neighborhood, the son of a postal worker. His interest in gymnastics led to a brief career as a circus acrobat. He fought in World War II, then turned his attention to acting. His steamy love scene with Deborah Kerr in the 1953 classic From Here To Eternity is among the most famous and enduring in movie history. Lancaster was a legitimate film star for 50 years, was nominated for an Oscar four times, and won for Elmer Gantry (1960). His role in Field of Dreams, released in 1989, was one of his most endearing. when we only show them parts of us. Also make sure you are taking your time with decisions and choices. Don’t be hasty. CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) This is the week to complete things. Look around and see what needs to be finished and do all that you can to put in the time to finish up and tie up loose ends. It must have something to do with the coming change of season; you need to go into the winter with as many loose ends tied up as possible. Make a list and then get to it and start checking things off. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) What is success for you? This week’s energy allows you the opportunity to really get clear on your goals and what leading a successful life truly looks like for you. Include emotional success and spiritual and mental success with your vision of financial and career success as well. What does a successful life look like – for you? Keeping that bigger view of things in mind then you are ready to make choices. PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) Ah, a moment when you can take the time to enjoy those around you, how exciting! A week when spending time with those you love is highlighted. Make the time to tell the people you love that you love them and allow yourself to receive help and love and support from those very people. The mantra is: “I am open to receive all that is good.” Keep your heart open and feel the love. NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, read the sign before or after your birthday. Pan Seared Polenta And Goat Cheese Cake With Braised Pears Ingredients (serves 4) 8 oz polenta 4 oz goat cheese 4 pears (peeled and sliced) 2 oz butter 1 8 oz can pear nectar 1 bay leaf 1 shallot (minced) 6 figs (quartered) 1 pinch of cinnamon 4 oz olive oil salt and pepper to taste

Method Fill a large pot with a 2-to-1 ratio, water to polenta, and bring to a boil. Once the water boils add the minced shallot and the bay leaf then slowly pour in the polenta while whisking it into the boiling water. Once you have added all of your polenta reduce the heat to a simmer and continue to whisk often. Do this for an hour, then whisk in the butter and the polenta will be the right consistency.

When the polenta is finished pour half of it into a deep baking dish and place in the fridge for 15 minutes to allow it to cool slightly, then remove and crumble the goat cheese over the top. Now pour in the rest of the polenta, smooth and even out the polenta with a spatula and place in the fridge for about an hour to cool. While the polenta cake cools you can start braising the pears and figs. Start by bringing 1 cup of water and the 8 oz can of pear nectar to a simmer then add the cinnamon and place the pears in the hot liquid. Let the pears cook at a low simmer for the entire hour that you are cooling the polenta. Add the figs at the end and let them cook in the liquid for about 15 minutes. When the polenta is cool cut it into 4 square pieces. Heat a large sauté pan and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot add the cakes

Miscellaneous PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail) Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth! I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succor me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh show me herein, you are my mother. Oh, Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee(3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goals. You who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated

Now Playing Anonymous * (PG-13) A brilliantly conceived whodunit set in Elizabethan England – who really wrote some of the works attributed to Shakespeare? Scholars have speculated for ages that more than one writer created literature’s most extraordinary body of work. Whether plausible or not, this film suggests an answer. Bridge School Benefit (NR) Neil Young, Dave Mathews, Carlos Santana, Beck and many others rip it up in the 2011 edition of Young’s annual benefit concert. Don’t miss it. Martha Marcy May Marlene (R) Four days after its “exclusive” premier at the Hamptons International Film Festival, Martha is released worldwide by Searchlight Fox sans the $28 ticket price. John Hawkes is mesmerizing as a cult leader, and Elizabeth Olsen plays a troubled teen cult member trying to return to normal life. It’s a chilling, provocative, and scary flick. The Three Musketeers (PG-13) Another one? Yep. This time Orlando Bloom leads the three buds through perilous times. Milla Jovovich plays the evil Milady. As usual, it’s a fun ride, just like the other 43 versions.
