Thank you so much to all of you who sent an extra gift last year so that your child could have such a happy Christmas! All of the kids at the Home of Compassion Orphanage really had lots of fun and so enjoyed their Christmas celebration. This was the first Christmas celebration ever for some of the new children, and some of them received gifts for the first time in their lives. They all loved their gifts and realized how much their sponsors love them for providing these gifts! The children are always so excited to share with their sponsors how thankful they are for their presents each year! To save postage each year, we will be putting photos of the orphanage children with his or her gifts on our website. We will try to have all their photos posted sometime in January 2014. Don’t forget to check for your child’s photo!

Vacation Bible School Reaches 10,000 Children Independent Church in India’s largest children’s ministry outreach is the Vacation Bible School, held in many different remote villages throughout Tamil Nadu each year! This year again, ICII was able to reach out to 10,000 children through these events! In the months of April and May, the older Home of Compassion (HOC) children helped ICII native missionaries hold VBS’s in eight different villages. These children are very enthusiastic to tell other children they know about how Jesus changes lives! Our children at the Home of Compassion were used in wonderful ways as they helped to teach through the VBS books, and helped lead the songs, did some drama skits, and

On the final day of the VBS, some of the HOC kids did a drama skit about the love of God and how He cares for the children. They helped to lead 800 children in the action songs and rally! The HOC children worked hard together as they helped to pack the gifts, cook the food, and give it to those attending the event. The HOC children often share how encouraged they are to be able to use their lives for the Lord.

We hope this is an encouragement to you, to know that the children you are sponsoring are being used in wonderful ways to further the Kingdom work in India! 4

God is Using the Home of Compassion Children We were so blessed and encouraged this year to sit with each of the Home of Compassion children and listen as they shared their exciting testimonies with joy of how God has been using them for His glory. God can surely use any person of any age that has a willing heart to serve Him. These children have realized now at their young age how much better their lives are since Jesus has filled them with His love. Many of the children shared their visions and hopes for the future. We believe the Lord will use each one of these children to make a difference in lives in India!

Here are a few testimonies and future goals from the children: “This year God used me through prayers. God has been answering all my prayers. I shared the gospel with my grandma and she accepted the Lord and got baptized. My grandma had a skin problem so I brought her to church. When my Pastor Richard prayed for her, this skin disease got totally healed! She is now very healthy and she is following the Lord!” by Muthaiya

“This year God blessed me with good health and the good education. I was also able to share about Jesus to some of my friends. Four friends of mine received Jesus into their lives through me; now they are following Jesus also. I am teaching these four friends at my school, so they are learning about Jesus through me, because their parents do not know the Lord. One friend named Vinoth that I shared the Gospel with told me that his mother was not feeling well. Vinoth told me to pray for her and then we will see if your God is the true God. After I prayed for her, Vinoth went home and when he returned to school the next day, he said his mother was totally healed! She was feeling much better! I gave the Bible to Vinoth and now he is reading it all the time and he is even telling other kids at school about what Jesus has done in his life! He is also reading the Bible to the other kids! I am so very happy about this! I can feel that God is with me all the time.” ...by Stalin

“Every time when I play the kabadi game, I pray to the Lord because I want to be a good witness. I will pray, ‘Lord, give me the strength like Samson’. Through praying, the Lord has helped our team to win many games. My teacher is a Hindu and he does not like the Christians. I have to be a certain weight to play this game. My weight was a little over than it should be so I was praying that somehow I would be qualified to play anyway. At the time my teacher checked my weight, my weight was the right amount! The Lord worked a miracle in my life and allowed me to play the game. I was able to get in the game because I knew the Lord would be with me even though the others said I would not be able to be in the game beChinnakaal holding her cause I am a Christian. But I told them the Lord would help me and He sure did! This year the reward for the sports state finals were much harder, but the Lord still helped us to come in third place in the state competition. championship finals”. ...by Chinnakaal ICII Saves Sisters From Child Slavery Emimaal and Susee are from a remote tribal area. The people who live here have a lot of tea plantation. When the sisters were very young, their father died. Their mother had to go to the tea plantation to work, but she had to work very cheap labor and sometimes did not even get paid. So the family began starving because she could not provide all their needs. They were so very poor. Then some people came and wanted to take Emimaal and Susee for child slave labor. At the right time, through Pastor Richard, the Lord sent someone to them from the Home of Compassion orphanage. Emimaal and Susee were rescued and brought to the Home of Compassion orphanage. Now they both are so happy to live here at the home. Susee shares, “I am so glad for three meals a day and to go to school so I can study. I also feel like I have a family here.” 5

We are planning to keep having Birthday parties for the children at the orphanage. We typically do not receive enough funds for each individual child’s birthday, so instead we have decided that when each month, when we have sufficient funds, we will have a combined party for the children. This way, each child will be treated alike, and the birthday parties will make all the children feel very special. A gift of $25 usually provides cake and ice cream for all the children and staff workers at the orphanage!
