SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT Peter Margaritis, CPA, CGMA Chief “Edutainment” Officer for Peter A. Margaritis, LLC

Speaker Rating: 4.79/5 As the chief “edutainment” officer for Peter A. Margaritis, LLC, Margaritis’ role is to help business leaders strengthen their business success skills. With every client his goal is the same: help the team improve their skills to improve business results. As a speaker and trainer Margaritis has delivered over 80 seminars, conferences and workshops on both technical and non-technical topics to clients that include Fortune 500 companies, large and national regional CPA firms, state CPA societies and the American Institute of CPAs. Currently Margaritis serves on the faculty of Ohio Dominican University and the University of Maryland at University College.

New Leadership from a Slightly Different Perspective 6/5/14 / 8:30 a.m.-Noon Peter A. Margaritis, CPA, CGMA INCPAS Prof. Dev. & Conf. Ctr., Indianapolis CPE: 4 | MEMBER: $159 | NONMEMBER: $234 There are many different qualities that an effective leader must possess such as integrity, vision and a sense of humor, to name a few. These leadership skills get transformed into one’s own style of leadership, and those styles vary from former President Ronald Reagan to Steve Jobs. This program will explore leadership through a different lens by incorporating the principles of

improvisational comedy, the power of networking and the diversity of generations in the workplace. In addition, we will discuss how to conquer the fear of public speaking and ways to inspire our creativity.

New Career Management: What’s Next for You? 6/5/14 / 1-4:30 p.m. Peter A. Margaritis, CPA, CGMA INCPAS Prof. Dev. & Conf. Ctr., Indianapolis CPE: 4 | MEMBER: $159 | NONMEMBER: $234 CPA firms invest thousands of dollars per year in order to increase the technical knowledge of staff members during the first five years of employment. There is little to no investment in their non-technical (soft) skills prior to promotion to manager. Once they are promoted to manager they are asked to build and maintain client relationships with little to no training. This strategy may have worked 10+ years ago, but the competitive nature of the business world rewards those who have the skills to develop client loyalty, referrals and cross selling of services. The challenge is to achieve balance between technical and non-technical skills in order to reduce the learning curve once staff is promoted into management positions. This course will prepare future managers to win business, increase productivity and increase the firm’s profits.

STAFF TRAINING CLASSES A&A Staff Level 1 — Entry Level Staff 7/28-29/14 / 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Rebecca M. Lee, CPA INCPAS Prof. Dev. & Conf. Ctr., Indianapolis CPE: 16 | MEMBER: $479 | NONMEMBER: $704 This course is a must for firms who need to transition newly hired staff from the academic environment to the practice world. The program demonstrates to inexperienced staff with limited real world experience a variety of work papers for typical assignments in the first year in the field. This program combines the one-day program Loscalzo’s Documentation Techniques for Entry Level Staff with a discussion of compilation, review and audit issues.

A&A Staff Level 2 — Experienced Staff 7/30-31/14 / 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Rebecca M. Lee, CPA INCPAS Prof. Dev. & Conf. Ctr., Indianapolis CPE: 16 | MEMBER: $479 | NONMEMBER: $704 As they gain more experience, staff are expected to take

on more complex assignments with minimal supervision. This program combines two one-day courses: Loscalzo’s Utilizing the Risk-Based Audit Standards (RAS) and Disclosure – The Key To Financial Statements (DKFS). This program covers practical application and understanding for auditing using the Risk-Based Audit Standards and provides basic disclosures required when preparing GAAP financial statements.

A&A Staff Level 3 — In-Charge 8/28-29/14 / 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Rebecca M. Lee, CPA INCPAS Prof. Dev. & Conf. Ctr., Indianapolis CPE: 16 | MEMBER: $479 | NONMEMBER: $704 Many times the firm expectations of an in-charge are not expressed. This course will identify basic expectations of this level while emphasizing the technical aspects of planning effective and cost efficient audits. This program concentrates on the role expected of an in-charge for training, supervision and engagement management skills. This course includes the one-day program, Loscalzo’s Reviewing Documentation Effectively.
