Dear Executive, The storms and floods that Hurricane Sandy brought to the US east coast in the autumn of last year underlined the importance of preparing for tail risks. The response from the authorities – and their preparation beforehand – was hugely better than the disaster of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but the disruption and damage was still significant.
