A Place for Business We will work hard to make Basingstoke a more successful and more convenient place to do business.


Providing Digital Opportunities • Introduction of Free WiFi in The Malls and Top of the Town • 15 GEO-sense trackers installed to monitor footfall and dwell time • Free Marketing platform via WiFi • Access to Placedashboard, a tool used to inform BID member activities


Supporting Business In partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the BID has: • Provided free training for businesses, with more courses available in the new year • Promoted Small Business Saturday and launched a public vote for their favourite small business • Advised businesses about the Top of the Town Grant Scheme which is currently available


Regular Communications • Fortnightly BID Member Newsletters distributed to the members across the Town Centre

• New Basingstoke Together website www.basingstoketogether.co.uk, which highlights the opportunities available for businesses, as well as business news and events


A Place for People We will work hard to make Basingstoke a place that meets the needs of the people that work, live and visit.


Town Hosts • Introduction of Town Hosts • 153 businesses engaged in projects as a direct result of our Town Host visits


Navigation • Digital Information Boards due to be installed in the Top of the Town and on Alencon Link (between the Train Station and the Malls) • The boards will be WiFi hotspots • They will include a full business directory and live transport feeds


RetaiLink • Ten european cities working together to create innovative strategies that revitalise the retail sector • The cities participating in the RetaiLink network will develop Integrated Action Plans to enhance the competitiveness of small and/or independent retail businesses, considering them a key economic driver. • The project’s scope of work includes areas such as regulation, employment, urban planning, managing public spaces, mobility, cultural and creative industries and citizens participation. Our multi-stakeholder approach brings together public sector, private sector, retailers and major commercial operators, consumers or cultural and creative industries.


Promotion By coordinating Basingstoke's offer across the town, whether that be joining up the day-time and evening economies or helping people see its variety, we can attract more people to Basingstoke as a whole.


Christmas in Basingstoke • 53 businesses have engaged with the campaign • 18 of which were independent businesses • 46 businesses featured in the Christmas in Basingstoke guides. • 60,000 guides produced, with 50,000 distributed in secondary and tertiary areas • A digital version was also circulated via partners

A Voice for Business The BID is a strong business voice in discussions with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Stagecoach, Southwest Trains, Hampshire County Council and other bodies.


Consultation & Representation • Basingstoke Together recognised as a Key Consultee • Made formal representation on the Leisure Park proposal on behalf of the total BID membership • To date, 54 businesses have inputted by completing a comprehensive survey

• Basingstoke Together is also recognised as a key consultee on the St Michael’s Redevelopment


Representation Basingstoke Together has represented the businesses at a variety of forums including: • Basingstoke Area Strategic Partnership • Borough Business Partnership • Basingstoke Vulnerabilities Operational Group (VOG) • Basingstoke Town Centre Partnership (PACT) • Basingstoke Town Centre Forum – Steering Group • Enterprise M3 Infrastructure Conference • Transport Partnership Meeting


Forums Promotion Group • Influence the marketing and events plans for Basingstoke, by joining the promotions group. Town Centre Working Group • Join key stakeholders including Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hampshire Constabulary, Hampshire County Council to discuss operational matters that impact Basingstoke today. Voice for Business Working Group • Interested in hearing about the latest developments that will impact Basingstoke Town Centre, and ensure you input into the BIDs response.
