Dear Readers Welcome to the

Inside this month’s issue

March issue of In and Around Iver And, as I say every year, one of my most favourite months! March always feels like turning a corner and heading towards better weather, longer days and of course my much loved barbeques. It’s also birthday month for both myself and the magazines, and whilst I’m not so keen on divulging my own age, I’m happy to share that In and Around Publishing is celebrating it’s 14th year of posting our local magazines through residents’ letterboxes. What’s even more amazing is that when I checked back on our records, we actually still have some advertisers who have been with us from that very first year back in 2006. Over the years, my daughter has grown from a small child to a fully grown woman, indeed, I now have a beautiful grandchild too. I’ve moved house three times, gained a dog and sadly lost a dog, carried out distribution in just about every possible weather element and overcome all kinds of technical and logistical glitches. One of the most wonderful aspects of these magazines has been the number of people, both advertisers and residents that I’ve not only spoken with or met, but with whom I’ve become good friends over the years. So I’d like to thank you, the entire community for supporting myself and my venture and ensuring its success. Until next month .Angela & Sammy

Dear Residents, Community Speedwatch Community Speedwatch is an Ivers Parish Council initiative now in action across The Ivers with the support of resident Jane Brown and her group of volunteers. We are happy to advise that this initiative has been met positively by the community and several warning letters have been issued by TVP to those drivers found to be driving above the limit. Watch out for Jane and her fellow residents who give so much of their time to ensure our communities are safer. Streetlight Programme Update Following the successful introduction of LED streetlighting across the Parish, Stage 3 of programme is being finalised and we plan to spend in the region £40,000 on the next wave of replacement energy efficient lanterns. The new lanterns not only provide improved lighting in our streets but, we are pleased to report also that, since we embarked on the project, energy costs have reduced significantly, with savings of more than 50% being achieved. Iver Recreation Ground will also benefit from a lighting upgrade thanks to a successful application to Wexham & Ivers Local Area Forum for funding of £4,440 to improve the lighting at the car park, on the perimeter footpath and by the scout hut. We are pleased to advise that an additional nine new lamp heads and two replacement columns will be installed, providing improved security and safer access for our residents. Iver Recreation Ground Disabled Parking Following the completion of stage one of the Disabled Car Park, an access ramp will be installed across the pea shingle area joining both pathways mid-February and making good of bay signage and posts will be completed. Become a candidate in the upcoming Parish Council elections on Thursday 7th May 2020 The Ivers Parish Council is the first tier of local government closest to the community. With South Bucks District Council making way for the new unitary Buckinghamshire Authority now more than ever is the time for residents to come forward and stand for election. So, what does your Local Council do? The Ivers Parish Council has an overall responsibility for the wellbeing of your local community. Our work falls into three main categories: • Delivering services • Improving quality of life for residents • Giving communities a democratic voice MAKE A CHANGE BECOME A LOCAL COUNCILLOR If you are interested contact Mike Kennedy, Interim Clerk on 01753 655331 or email clerk@iverparishcouncil.gov.uk or visit our website for further information www.iverparishcouncil.gov.uk 16

Gardening Project

The gardening team recently met to discuss plans for 2020. Through regular cuts, treatment and reseeding the team hope to stop the weeds and bring back the grass! Last year’s focus was the entrance to Bathurst Walk and the junction of Somerset Way & Wellesley Avenue. For 2020 the team will continue to focus on the entrance to Bathurst Walk and now the junction of Somerset Way & Thorney Lane South, and the verge by the junction of Syke Ings & Bathurst Walk. We would like to extend this further, but need more help! If you would like to volunteer for 2020 then please email RPVAG@hotmail.com.

Community Events for 2020

Last year the Richings Park Events Team organised some fantastic and fun events. Parties like the Summer Ball, Halloween night and the family Christmas Party. In 2020 they would like to do even more. This, like everything else only happens through volunteers. Organising an event is great fun and a brilliant way to spend time with fellow members of your community. To get involved please email RPVAG@hotmail.com
