Eat

RUSTIC FRENCH It is very difficult to eat badly in Provence as the locals just won’t stand for lack lustre cookery. Most villages have weekly markets, so do your research beforehand and swing by one of these for amazing cheese, scrumptious bread and other rustic treats. Also don’t forget to sample your finds with a truffle speciality or two.

TRUFFLE HUNTING IN PROVENCE One of the most popular holiday destinations in the South of France, Provence is famed for both its picturesque countryside and fabulous food. November is the perfect month to make a foodie pilgrimage, as it marks the start of the region’s truffle season. Nicknamed ‘black diamonds’ truffles are probably the most highly prized of funguses on earth, indeed Alexandre Dumas claimed that eating truffles put one in touch with the divine. And what better way to get to grips with this most luxurious and pungent ingredient than to hunt out your very own?
