LITERATURE

T

his world of globalization, generator of rapid and uncontrolled changes, scandals of all kinds and information chaos, tends to make people join local movements that provide certain fundamental identity, a solid and immutable basis to rely on. Such organizations can be of national, regional, ethnic or religious nature. This leads, for exam-

ple, to the fundamentalism that does not hesitate to take up arms. Currently, such aggressive and intolerable groups exist in the Isla-

mic, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish and Christian world. PhD in Theology specialized in the Old Testament and New Testament, Antonio Cruz Suarez is a servant of the Lord who has contributed, through a series of publications, to consolidate the Christian faith in modern times. Likewise, this renowned lecturer has numerous international awards for his work and has devoted, in different periods of his life, to scientific research, teaching and pastoring. In his book “Christian In The Global Village,” pastor Cruz contributes to reflect on the Gospel at the dawn of a new century. God still has power today to make the “swords” designed by humans to kill become “plowshares” capable of supporting life, and transform the “spears into pruninghooks” able to cut the vital wheat, as written by Isaiah almost twenty centuries ago (2: 4). But He wants, above all, each person to know Him, to walk in His ways, to repent of their spiritual rebellion and, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, to be at peace with God and begin to live with justice and responsibility.

Its author, raised in an evangelical home, passes on through his work his wide knowledge of the Protestant apologetics. In this regard, it should be noted that Dr. Antonio Cruz says that Christians of the third millennium have a moral obligation to recognize the signs of the times. Exoduses, or the departures of a large number of people, have been around since ancient times. Humans have been changing their place of residence since the mists of time in order to seek better lands, new food or healthier climates. The Bible describes some of these migrations; for example, the patriarch Abraham left the land of Ur of the Chaldeans along with his wife Sarah and all his possessions, “not knowing whither he went” and sojourned in a strange place for many years in search of a better country.
