Immanuel Christian School Prayer Guide March 17 – April 4, 2014 ICS 2013-14 Bonus Verse: “With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:10-11 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STEM Exhibition & Fundraiser – Thursday, March 20, 2014 – Please pray for the preparations for this special event which will highlight how we prepare our students for the future through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. May God bring many guests to this event! Eighth Graders – Please pray for our 8th grade students and their parents as several of them are applying to various private high schools, and others are making decisions about what high school to attend. Pray for God’s gracious and clear leading in these students’ lives. First Look Friday Open Houses – We are thankful for a good response to the First Look Fridays so far. Please pray that God will bring to our school the families that He desires to have here at ICS for the school year of 2014-15. Pray especially about the expansion of our kindergarten program. Remaining First Look Fridays will take place on March 28, April 25 and May 16. ACSI Accreditation Renewal – Please pray for our faculty and staff as they work on the application for renewal of our accreditation. Pray for Mrs. Crabtree as she oversees this project and that we will do an excellent job of communicating the fine program our school offers. Pray also for the official visit from the ACSI evaluators in April. Discussion of possible High School – Please pray for our school board members as they seek God’s leading about the idea of a high school for ICS. This is a big dream, and we trust that the Lord will go before us and make a way if this is His will. Visiting Day on April 11 – This day is designed for prospective students to spend the morning here at school. Please pray for several students to come for that day, and that our ICS students would be welcoming. New Students’ Transition – Pray for 2 new students in first and third grades who have just started at ICS. Pray for new friends and to adjust well to the new routine. Kindergarten Readiness Seminar -- Praise to God for a good response to a recent readiness program. Pray for good attendance at another one scheduled for April 29. Spring Sports – Softball and lacrosse teams have begun to practice for the season. Please pray for these students as they train, for safety on the fields, and for good weather! Parents in Prayer Weekly Meetings – Please plan to join the parents who meet to pray each Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. in B-201. Praying for our students, teachers, staff and our school activities is a


very important ministry, so that we can be effective in our mission to inspire godliness and purpose in these young lives. March 17 – April 4: Featured Classes for Prayer – 2B and Elementary Art and Music

2B Class – Jessie Abella - Teacher; Jackie Kim - TA Character Traits: Honesty and Gentleness Class Verse: Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Projects/Skills: currently: letter writing, interviewing others, gaining information from what we read, gaining appreciation for other cultures Prayer Requests: Please pray for self-control, speaking uplifting words to classmates, and for the students to develop strong, healthy friendships. Art Classes (Primary and Elementary) – Mrs. Amber Seat, Teacher Character Traits: Listening, following directions, and creativity Class Verse: Exodus 35:35 “God has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers – all of them master craftsmen and designers.” Projects/Skills: At least one new style of art has been introduced this year for each grade, as we seek to help students understand and appreciate contemporary art as well as art from traditional masters. A broad range of artistic mediums are studied at each grade level giving students many opportunities to express their creativity through two dimensional and three dimensional art forms Prayer Requests: Please pray for the students to seek to honor God through their creativity, to encourage each other and always do their best for the glory of God.


Music Classes (Primary and Elementary) – Mrs. Karen Brinson Character Traits: Joyfulness and Patience Favorite Verse: Psalm 100:2 NKJV “Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.” Projects/Skills: K-2 students are studying composers, learning notation and rhythmic skills. Third graders are studying how to play the recorder and will perform in May for their “Moving West” play. Fourth and Fifth graders are reviewing the Orchestra and studying composers Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frederic Handel. Prayer Requests: Please pray for the students to enjoy learning these music skills. For some it is review and for others it is brand new. Pray for the Lord to help them appreciate His wonderful gift of music. Pray especially for the 3rd graders as they learn the recorder and perform on the day of their “Moving West” play in June. Pray for all the students to enjoy God’s wonderful gift of music.
