show what ICS is all about - Visiting Day @ ICS! On Friday, April 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m, families with students in grades 3 through 7 will have the opportunity to "try ICS on for size" by joining a class for a regularly scheduled Friday morning. For more information and to RSVP, click here. Limited space is available. RSVPs must be received by tomorrow, Friday, April 4th. Questions? Contact Lauren Umble. Financial Aid Applications for tuition assistance are processed online by FACTS. All required documentation is due by Wednesday, April 16. There is a processing fee of $30 for this service. Families who are currently receiving aid should have received information in their re-enrollment package. Please remember that a new online application must be completed each year you request tuition assistance. Spring Picture Day is Coming Spring pictures are scheduled for ICS students on Thursday, April 24. This is an optional picture day. Only the students who order pictures will have their picture taken on this day. All students, even if you are not ordering pictures, may dress down. Dress down rules apply. If the weather is nice, students will have their pictures taken outside. Order forms will be coming home soon. You may pay with a check or fill in your credit card information on the form. One parent volunteer is also needed to help that day. You will earn $15 off your child's pictures as a volunteer. Contact Mary Sue Smith to help. 3rd Annual Immanuel's Got Talent Show: YOU are Invited! All are welcome to attend the 3rd Annual ICS Talent Show. There will be an all-school assembly on Friday, May 2 from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. in the Worship Center to see performances from students in grades 48. You may even see some staff show off their skills! Parents, family members, and friends from all grade levels are welcome to attend what is sure to be an exciting time. Word of Mouth Marketing A number of you have been sharing the news about ICS with your friends. There is a webform you can complete to let us know who they are and to allow us to follow up. TerraNova Annual Student Achievement Testing: April 28 - May 2 Students in grades 3-8 will participate in the annual TerraNova Testing the week of April 28 - May 2. There is no preparation needed except for a good breakfast, a good night's rest, and two pencils. It is extremely important that you arrive on time and do NOT arrange doctor appointments for this week. Students with unexcused absences will be retested for a fee of at least $25 per student. Please see the Parent/Student Handbook for absentee information. 100 Verse Recitation There is an opportunity at the end of the 4th quarter for students who wish to quote additional verses to total 100 verses for the year. A special Bible, which the student selects, is awarded for this achievement. Your student's Bible teacher will provide information to the student about the 100 verses recitation. Please note that all additional verses must be printed and submitted to the Bible teacher by May 14. All students who want to recite 100 verses must complete them by June 2 for all grades. Please contact your student's Bible teacher for additional information. After School Enrichment Classes  

The ICS music department would like to know if there is interest in your child participating in afterschool small group violin classes starting in the fall of 2014. Classes would be offered for students in kindergarten-2nd grades. Replying "yes" to this survey does not commit you to lessons; we simply want to get an idea of how many students may be interested in


this opportunity. Please email Esther Sissung, ICS violin instructor, with your reply of "yes" and any other questions you may have. USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo The festival will be here in Washington, DC at the Washington Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday, April 26 & 27 from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. For more information, please click here. Math Road Show Coming to ICS April 22 Leading up to festival weekend, various scientists, engineers, tech innovators, and mathematicians will be speaking at local schools. ICS has been selected to host Dr. Bruce Bayly, a mathematician from the University of Arizona and creator of the Math Road Show. He will be sharing his enthusiasm and expertise with our students and the extended ICS community. Parents and children are welcome to attend his presentation that will take place on Tuesday, April 22 from 12:00-12:45 in the Worship Center. Join us! Math Olympics On Friday, March 21, 36 students from grades 3-8 represented ICS at the ACSI Math Olympics. Held at Emmanuel Christian School in Manassas, over 250 students competed in the areas of Computation and Reasoning. The following students were recognized for their strong performance on a series of four challenging tests: 8th grade Reasoning: Daniel Patel (1stplace), Sheeba Prince (3rdplace) 8th grade Computation: Ashley Kim (4thplace), Tristan White (5thplace) 7th grade Reasoning: John Park (1stplace) 7th grade Computation: Zach Pifer (1stplace) 6th grade Reasoning: Caleb Thornhill (2ndplace), Cassie Routsis (5thplace) 6th grade Computation: Daniel Kim (1stplace) 5th grade Reasoning: Lars Griffin (1stplace) Jack Daly (4thplace) 5th grade Computation: Isabella Raneri (2ndplace) Pearl Azer (3rdplace) 4th grade Reasoning: Caleb McIntyre (2ndplace) 4th grade Computation: Sean Kelly (2ndplace) Aubrey Seat (3rdplace) 3rd grade Reasoning: Paul Couts (2ndplace) Eliana LaFleur (3rdplace) 3rdgrade Computation: Ian Griffin (4thplace) Zachary Cohen (5thplace tie,) Fei Hung Hsu (5th place tie) Zach Pifer, Daniel Kim, and Lars Griffin also received medals for the extremely high number of problems they got correct. Also participating in the event were Christian Schwien, James Park, Lauren Potter, Lindsey Smith, Dillon Anderson, Soleil Edwards, Anna Boyer, Amy Herrema, Joon Kim, Ethan Duke, Matthew Pannell, Ryan Carnahan, Conner Deering, Steffen Johnson, Ethan Bittinger, Paul Couts, and Eliana LaFleur. Mrs. Pate and Mrs. Ferrell are proud of each student who participated, and appreciate the following parents who helped make this event run as smoothly as it did: Mrs. Kelly, Mr. Griffin, Mrs. Coan, Mrs. Duke, Mrs. Schwien, Mr. Smith, Mr. Thornhill, Mrs. Park, Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Griffin, Mrs. LaFleur, Mrs. Couts, and Mrs. Seat.


Box Tops Thanks to all those that submitted Box Tops to support ICS. In the 2nd quarter, 3,891 Box Tops were submitted which totaled $381.90. So far this school year, you have raised $1169.80 for the school. 

The top three Box Top submissions for the second quarter are Anna/Lauren Boyer (6A/2B): 232 Box Tops, Erik Cobb (KB): 166 Box Tops, and Matthew Pannell (5A): 178 Box Tops. Congratulations and prizes to be announced!!! A huge thanks to Diana Dorsey (Emily Dorsey's mom) for helping with the count this quarter! Please keep the Box Tops coming for third quarter prizes! Please bring your Box Tops in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child(s) name and grade to the front office. Please make sure you check the expiration dates on the Box Tops because expired ones cannot be counted in the totals. Remember to sign up and support ICS here. Once you register, you will have access to coupons for Box Top products and have the opportunity to play fun games and earn eBox Tops for our school.

ICS Summer Basketball Camp: June 16 - 20 Mark your calendars! ICS will again host a summer basketball camp from Monday - Friday, June 16-20. Camp will be held in the ICS gym from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Camp is limited to the first 100 campers, both boys and girls entering 4th - 9th grade. Flyers will go out soon. Vacation Bible School at Immanuel Bible Church Mark your calendars for June 23-27 for Vacation Bible School week.  

Lunch Room Supervisor Need for the End of the Year We are looking for someone to be our Lunch Room Supervisor beginning Monday, May 12th through the end of the school year. Hot Lunch Help Needed Servers Needed: We are in need of a few people to serve Hot Lunch each week. It is a once-amonth commitment on Wednesdays between 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. This is a great way to satisfy your Parent Service Hours. It is always a blessing to serve side by side as a team interacting with the students and other ICS parents. We'll even treat you to lunch!
