NCS is a once in a lifetime opportunity for young people aged 15-17. Week 1 you will experience the freedom of life away from home at an Outdoor Residential facility taking part in outdoor activities and team building, meet new friends and defy your limits. Week 2 local residential you can develop your communication and employability skills, increase your confidence, stand out from the crowd whilst achieve amazing goals. Week 3 you will learn about your local community and how YOU can give back to your local community and week 4 you will deliver your Social Action project in the local community.

Many past NCS students have come back to work with us as Team Leaders, Assistant Team Leaders or Volunteers and this is something we have encouraged from each of our projects since 2013. It is important in life to experience different working environments so you can gain an insight into the World-of-Work and see how your skills fit.

Within the team we have several staff with first hand experience in media production, we use state of the art equipment and facilities ensuring you get a great experience. Media production helps develop many transferable life skills, getting in front of the camera helps boost your confidence and communication skills, whilst working behind the camera develops your organisational and creative skills. These skills are also great for building your CV; there is also the opportunity to get involved in filming parts of the project. You also have the opportunity to develop your creative writing skills in our NCS Times Newspaper where you can share your views giving you the chance to say you are a published writer in a newspaper that is distributed to over 24,000 homes.

Regarding politics, it’s often very easy to say that young people as a whole are not interested; however that isn’t always the case. One of the reasons that young people seem to be disengaged with the topic is that they find it difficult to get involved and may not necessarily know the importance of being politically engaged. To tackle this, we invite all our local MPs to visit our projects to help you discover how you can get involved politically in the community whilst also giving an insight into organisations that would benefit from Social-Action projects.

Social Action projects give you the chance to learn more about your local community and allow you to really feel as though you're making an important impact in the area you are living in. Our NCS students have taken part in renovations, the creation of short films to help charities gain funding and public support, fundraising, family fun days and much more, each event has always had a big impact in the community. Social Action is the time when you really get to give back and make a serious impact in your local community through a project you can be passionate about developing, planning and delivering, creating something that you can be proud of. The final part of your NCS journey is your Graduation Event. You will have the opportunity to celibate your achievement with family and friends; here you are presented with your Graduation Certificate signed by the Prime Minister and your vInspired-volunteering certificate. We also show video footage of all the great things you did on your NCS journey. You will also receive a Graduation pack that will have details of lots of Opportunities which will look great on your CV and UCAS application.
