MEET THE CUSTOMER NORMAN HURT

Mr Hurt is a familiar face in and around the dealership and having been with the brand for almost 2 decades he has a real appreciation for Jaguar products. At 78, Mr Hurt has been retired for a number of years but as a director of Universal Consultants based in Farnworth, Mr Hurt had always had a requirement for a luxury saloon offering enhanced comfort alongside refined performance. With the dealership having been only a stones throw away from his office; coupled with the added convenience of a great relationship with our staff; Mr Hurt has become almost a honorary member of our team. Having previously owned a number of Ford vehicles, Mr Hurt decided in the early 90’s to switch to Jaguar as a company vehicle and has never looked back. With an XJ-6, S-Type and XJ over the last few years, his current Jaguar XF has already been put through its paces clocking up over 600 miles in four days with a roundtrip to TunbridgeWells and Hayling Island. Mr Hurt told us he was rather impressed with the fuel economy of 44.6 miles to the gallon and enjoyed the comfort and quality: something of a necessity when travelling. With Christmas spent with his daughters and four grandchildren, Mr Hurt managed to put his feet up and enjoy the festive period. As a valued customer, Mr Hurt often pops in for a coffee always with a story to tell and we’re always happy to welcome him into the dealership. Married to his lovely wife Helen for 37 happy years, Wilf has two children Natalie and Oliver and four beautiful grandchildren, Cameron, Isabella, Olivia and Jake. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, watching movies and keeping fit. With regular weekend breaks to their caravan in Settle both he and Helen enjoy long walks in the Yorkshire Dales. Every time the temperature drops below 7°C, the simple truth is your Jaguar would be safer fitted with winter tyres. WE’VE BEEN BUSY PROVIDING CHRISTMAS CHEER As you would expect from the Hillendale Group, as we approached the festive season we wanted to once again do as much as possible to help make Christmas a little bit better for those less fortunate than ourselves. The response to our Christmas appeal was overwhelming.

FOOD BANKS Supporting the Bolton Lads & Girls Club in their efforts to increase donations to their independent food bank we decided to set up a collection box calling for staff and customers alike to donate any imperishable foods to the dealership. With the additional help of a substantial donation from Hillendale, over 30 boxes of tins, dried pasta, rice, canned meat and soups were all gratefully received and distributed to the local food bank who ensured they would reach a good home.

WOMENS REFUGE Having offered our support to the Women’s Refuge in Nelson over the course of the year, we couldn’t have been more pleased to extend a helping hand over the Christmas period to the local women’s refuge in Bolton. As a company we decided to provide specific items as required by the refuge as well as asking our staff, friends, customers and supporters to join us by buying a Christmas present for a child or their mother who would be spending the festive season in the refuge.

BOLTON HOSPICE CHARITY WINTER FAIR

Continuing our support of Bolton Hospice, we’d like to offer our congratulations to all the team at the Bolton Hospice Support Services who did a fantastic job at the Hospice annual Winter Fair in late November. In addition to presents donated we also donated 20 boxes of food parcels which were distributed to the residents making their stay that little easier.

Donna Fisk, Senior Manager at the Club had this to say on the donations; ‘The Christmas period is often the most financially challenging time of the year for some of our families, so support through food donations enables them to enjoy Christmas with much less stress and worry. On behalf of all our families thank you so much for your generosity’. This year the Club also provided a full Christmas celebration for 19 of their families with the greatest need. With 100 Crackers donated to the Christmas Party by Hillendale we hope our efforts made the Christmas celebrations a little better for them and we hope to continue our support of the Bolton Lads & Girls club in 2014.

We were more than happy to offer a helping hand in the lead up to the event and on the day with sales of their own raffle tickets to raise money. We also created a Hillendale raffle in aid of the Hospice with an M&S Festive Christmas Hamper up for grabs donated by Hillendale. With the Mayor & Mayoress opening the event and a fantastic turnout on the day it really was a great event. It was lovely to speak to some of the supporters on the day and we look forward to getting involved at the next one. Having also contributed to the ‘Buy a Brick’ Campaign as the Hospice looks to expand its services, we hope we can continue our support of the incredible work they do on a daily basis throughout 2014.
