J

ohn R. Crooks, of Avon Lake, is the Associate Provost of the University Partnership at Lorain County Community College. Previous to that he was the Dean of Science and Mathematics and Director of Distance Learning at LCCC. Before LCCC, Dr. Crooks was Chair of the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science and an Associate Professor of Biology at Iowa Wesleyan College. He received his BS and MS degrees in Biology from Northeast Missouri State University, and his Ph.D. in Biology from Bowling Green State University. He is a life member of the Missouri Academy of Science, the Ohio Academy of Sciences and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. Expanding the number of programs in the University Partnership to augment the rich array of existing degrees available is his main focus as Associate Provost of the LCCC University Partnership. harlotte Wray, MSN, RN, MBA, was appointed President of University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in September 2015. During her 25-year tenure, she has served as Vice President of Clinical Operations, Information Systems and Chief Clinical and Information Officer, among other roles. In addition to holding master’s degrees in both nursing and business administration, Ms. Wray is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Certified Nursing Executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ms. Wray is a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School as well as a graduate of Lorain County Community College (LCCC) and the University Partnership at LCCC. Ms. Wray serves on LCCC Foundation’s Health Careers Advisory Committee and Vision Refresh Council as well as the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce board. A resident of Wakeman, Ms. Wray is the mother of three children: Marissa, Devin and Jared.

ichael F. Cook M.Ed. has served in public schools for the past 25 years with 14 of those years as a school administrator. Mr. Cook has spent 9 years with Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City School District. As principal of Sheffield Middle School, he lead them to their first ever “Excellent” Rating. He then became principal of Brookside High School, leading the teachers and students to improve ACT scores to a record high. Mr. Cook was promoted to superintendent in the 2013-2014 school year and has helped keep the district on the forefront of learning 21st century skills. Report card scores ranked Sheffield schools in the top 3 in Lorain County in 2015-16. Mr. Cook earned his B.A. in elementary teaching with a minor in social sciences from Hiram College and his Masters plus 36 hours of post Masters work from Youngstown State University. He currently serves as a trustee for the Ohio Department of Education’s “High Schools that Work” and “Making Middle Your Grades Work” school improvement Photo initiative. He also serves on the BASA Legislative Committee and the BASA State Department Committee.
