LED vs Fluorescent T8 Lighting LED vs Fluorescent T8 Lighting

We would like to start off by saying that the information found on various websites can and often does support both sides of this very hot topic. It seems that even the experts can’t agree on various points of the argument. What we have discovered is that most views are influenced by a perspective of something other than a neutral position. Many people think the Department of Energy’s (DOE) views are neutral since they are not trying to sell a product or don’t stand to profit from a decision in either direction. It is important to at least note that they are driven by politics and therefore lobbyists with fat wallets. The truth of the matter is that the major manufacturer’s of fluorescent tubes have billions tied up in facilities to produce a product that is now ready to be pushed aside and they are not going to go quietly. If they can slow down the process, it gives them time to catch up with companies that are now producing a product that is better across the board. We don’t want to bore you with too many statistics, but a few will help you make an informed decision. If you go to a DOE site and compare the CRI (Color Index) between Fluorescent and LED you will find this language:

Lighting Type

CRI

Quality

Fluorescent 68 – 78 Good LED 74 – 88 Average / Good One might ask if LED has a higher CRI on both the low and high end of the scale, why would the DOE rate it as average to good. All the experts agree that we can cut energy consumption by as much as 90% over incandescent bulbs and 62% over fluorescent bulbs through the use of LED’s with an ROI under 5 years and yet the DOE has not pushed that point to the consumers. Ask them about energy efficient automobiles that never return your investment and they will tell you to buy on. Why? Because the big boys are producing them. Once all the majors start mass producing LED’s the DOE will be telling all of us to go purchase them, it’s that simple.

So our message is simple! We have partnered with a leading USA Company who manufactures some of the best LED products in the world. Over the past 8 -10 months LED tube lights have hit prime time. With a 50,000 hour (12-20 yrs) plus life span and an average lumen per watt output of 90-130 we have rendered fluorescent tubes useless. LED’s produce better quality light more efficiently than any other product, that’s why you find them in so many hospital operating rooms around the country. LED’s can duplicate any light, are environmentally safe, (ask the EPA about CFL’s and Fluorescent tubes) reduce energy cost over all other lighting and we guarantee your savings with no out of pocket cash.
