NON-INTERACTIVE KIOSKS The information posts will be a prolific solution and implemented in the active central hubs as well as exterior parts of the communities. SUITABLE SIGNAGE CHECKPOINT SIGNAGE The checkpoint signage solution will compliment the whole strategy in way finding around the community working in conjunction with the navigation post and other solutions. The checkpoint signage is a great tool that will literally keep people on

track. Much like the navigation post the checkpoints will be a solution that can be implemented throughout the wider community but will contain a lesser amount of textual information and arranged in a more simplified format so that they can be made a suitable size and be placed in convenient areas. These signs are particular

Suitable signage will be the answer to navigation on the go. Adaptive signage solutions will be implemented in areas with significant amounts of activity and with environmentally sensitive application. This will especially benefit areas with heavy foot traffic and restrictive flow. These signs will display simplified and localised directions in order to keep the movement and re-insure commuters they are heading in the right direction. Generally this signage will be more effective in

activity hubs and train stations but also has application in quiet streets, parks and footpaths as well.

NAVIGATION POLL The navigation poll will contain information to help people navigate to popular landmarks and activity areas through out Boroondara. There will be no restriction to the locations or placement of this versatile solution as our recommendation is to place them in less populated areas just as frequently as active hubs or major central locations in order to unite the whole community and aid in way finding where other options are not available. On these signs you will find the same iconography included in your digital platforms and throughout the whole way finding system as well as distances and popular or sort after locations.

INTERACTIVE KIOSK INTERFACE DESIGN The interface design is heuristic for users and compliments the use of other platforms like the app and website. The interactive display will consist of a user interface design that is a closely simplified version of the app to provide an understandable and intuitive solution that is suitable for familiar and non-familiar users. A menu with hotspots and categorized interest will all be included. This interactive design is suitable for maximizing access to locational and navigation content. It also provides a great resource for the council and community as it can be easily updatable. People from the community and the council will be able to influence and manage content that informs the community and spread awareness about certain events and directions relative to the timing. The stand will also have an area that contains space for print material like the Hotspots handout.

PRINT LITERATURE

HOTSPOTS This print literature will assist in the circulation of information and navigation. It will serve the purpose of highlighting hotspots in recognised active central hubs of major suburbs throughout the city of Boroondara. On the handout you will find a range of different information including near by bars, clubs, restaurants, cafĂŠs, fast food, bathrooms, transportation, emergency and more. The front of the handout includes a map with a grid, and a key for the icons. The back of the handout includes a detailed description about specific restaurants and cafes in the area. It also includes open hours and contact details. Local businesses can benefit from these handouts as they are a form of advertising for them. The handouts can be edited with new content frequency to create equal opportunities for businesses. 28

PROJECTION SIGNAGE

DIGITAL NOTICE BOARD INTERACTIVE SCREEN Digital Notice boards serve the purpose of displaying information for events, communicating directions as well as relaying future developments and other engagements that concern the wider community. The advantage of having digital boards as part of the solution is that they can be illuminated at night-time to create an enhanced amenity and improve the overall aura of the environment. Digital boards can become interactive when activated by a user. When not in use, they scroll though screens to circulate information and display navigational aid for a short amount of time. This means a person engaged in their commute is effortlessly able to have access to more information and important content as it becomes available.

GLENFERRIE RD

NIGHT-TIME LIGHT NAVIGATION The idea of projection signage is an achievable, user friendly and safety sensitive. It is an affordable solution that can be executed with LED lighting and simple template cut-outs which illuminate a symbol to achieve the effect. The two purposes it serves as an info system, and as a lighting-display beyond that of novelty. Not only will the projections display information in consistency to the rest of the way-finding system, it will increase the feeling of connection and safety within the community. The implementation of projection lighting will be especially helpful at night-time by illuminating footpaths, and in darker, less active areas such as train stations or parks. It can be used in appropriate areas to advantage the community in both navigation as well as overall safety and wellbeing.
