Rocca Normanna In Irpinia SINCE 1100.
Il Cortiglio - Rocca Normanna Winery was founded by the Acampora - Troisi family in 2004 to lead 25 hectares that have been handed down from generation to generation since 1100. In Fontanarosa, in the centuries-old olive groves and in the modern espalier vineyards, organic extra virgin olive oils and fine wines are produced, like the prized Taurasi. Palazzo Troisi’s ancient cellars (19th century) are today the company’s agricultural winery where it’s possible taste wines and olive oils. In Pantelleria, in the characteristic “ad alberello” vineyard, that has become a UNESCO heritage site, the Zibibbo grapes are transformed into the famous “Passito di Pantelleria”. In Pantelleria it is also possible to spend magnificent holidays in the ancient “Dammusi” of the 19th century, carefully restored and used as a farmhouse. The peace and tranquility of the countryside combined with the crystalline sea make the island an ideal destination for holidays dedicated to healthy living and sport.
Fontanarosa The city of Stone, Straw and “Presepe” Fontanarosa is a small town of about 3.300 inhabitants located in the heart of the green Irpinia. The town is famous for stone and straw processing; a civic museum houses the local handicraft productions: Stone, Straw and “Presepe”. Thanks to the fertility of the land and the wealth of water, in recent years there has been a return to agricultural production activities already present at the time of prehistory. Several farms, olive-growing and wine-making companies, have been highlighted at national and international level for the quality of their products, winning prizes and honorable mentions.
Pantelleria A Farmhouse of the 19th century
Pantelleria is a sicilian island of 7.700 inhabitants located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, 27 miles from the African coast. The island is characteristic for its natural landscape (lava flows block and wonderful coves), in which the artifacts created by man are inserted. The “Dammuso” is the typical rural building with thick dry-stone walls, white-domed roofs and a very low landscape impact. Pantelleria has an international airport and a port connected to Trapani and Mazara del Vallo. Like all the Mediterranean islands, Pantelleria is a summer tourist destination that attracts nature lovers with its wild descents to the sea and trekking routes on the highlands of volcanic origin; the island’s main attractions include diving, horseback riding, natural mud from the “Specchio di Venere” lake, natural sauna caves and a visit to the necropolis of the “Sesi” as well as visits to wineries.
THE VINEYARDS 4 hectares of black grapes Aglianico vineyards in Fontanarosa, in the Taurasi area 2 hectares of white grapes Fiano and Falanghina vineyards in Fontanarosa 1 hectare of Zibibbo in Pantelleria, a World Heritage Site
Il Cortiglio - Rocca Normanna winery is the only one to have vineyards in two of the areas most suited to viticulture in southern Italy. In Fontanarosa the vineyard of Aglianico di Taurasi was built in 2009 with an “espalier plant” at about 550 meters above sea level. In 2019 we went from a traditional type of spurred cordon to Guyot, this made it possible to obtain softer and more easy to drink wines. The Falanghina vineyard was built in Fontanarosa in 2010. Also in this case the vineyard, located at 580 meters above sea level, was made in espalier with Guyot type breeding. The Fiano plant was built in November 2018 in the heart of the company’s properties, in a fund located about 520 meters above sea level. The “Moscato di Alessandria” vineyard in Pantelleria (known as “Zibibbo”) was built in 2010 in the Sibà area, 230 meters above sea level. The breeding is the typical Pantelleria “ad alberello”, which became part of UNESCO in 2014, the first agricultural practice in the world to fall into this list. Since the 2019 harvest, production has been certified as organic.

The Olive Groves 9 organic hectares
The olive groves are carefully followed during the year and the interventions are planned according to the different phenological phases. The harvesting takes place with the shaker diversifying the cultivars, each of which has a different type of maturation. The products obtained are 2 monovarietal oils Ecla and Pedra and the blend Icante. Every day, the harvested olives are taken to the oil mill and immediately cold pressed. At all stages of processing the temperature never exceeds 24 degrees. The oil so obtained is collected and stored in stainless steel silos and stored in controlled temperature (14-18 ° C). About 40 days after production the oil is decanted, this phase precedes the chemical and organoleptic analyzes after which the oil is ready to be sold.
