IK4 Research Alliance
TEKNIKER
IK4-TEKNIKER IS A TECHNOLOGY CENTRE MADE UP OF PEOPLE WHOSE VOCATION AND COMMITMENT ARE FOCUSED ON ENHANCING THE INNOVATIVE CAPABILITIES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FURTHERING THEIR TECHNOLOGICAL CAPITAL TO BE MORE COMPETITIVE, ALTHOUGH IN A SUSTAINABLE MANNER, BY PRODUCING AND APPLYING SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE.
RESEARCH AREAS ADVANCED MANUFACTURING
PRODUCT ENGINEERING
The ultimate goal of the Advanced Manufacturing strategy is to focus on more knowledge intensive manufacturing activities associated with a higher added value.
The ultimate purpose of the Product Engineering strategy is to make progress in terms of product concept development and to not only design and develop its components, both electrical and mechanical, but also the software. This approach makes it possible to obtain an end product suitable for marketing after undergoing a number of manufacturing processes.
The incorporation of cutting-edge technologies is not only necessary to develop new products and better processes but also to improve design or the brand itself as two of the most critical industrial elements, amongst others, and is one of the relevant areas to be addressed. SURFACE ENGINEERING
ICTs
The goal of the Surface Engineering strategy is to improve material properties by providing them with different functionalities. Surface engineering, therefore, does not only embrace deposition or coating technologies but also any kind of physical or chemical modification techniques that do not use filler material.
The purpose of the ITC strategy is to further progress in terms of information technologies, control, automation, electronics and standalone systems.

MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS
INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE
AUTOMATION AND INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS
The design, development, manufacturing and commissioning of complex mechatronic systems that must operate under very dynamic conditions and require a maximum degree of accuracy under extreme conditions.
Detection, diagnostics and prognostics of malfunctions in conventionally lubricated mechatronic systems to maximise maintenance returns by increasing the availability of assets, extending their life span and reducing operating costs.
Solutions connected to automation, industrial robotics and service robotics that may change according the customer’s capabilities and needs. Analysis of extensive solutions addressing the conceptual design of the process and/or machine, erection work and commissioning.
